It was called the 'Turul Eagle' it was a Hungarian flight-demo a/c for airshows. You may recall that the Czechs did several variations of tiger-striped Hinds for their teams; the Hungarians decided to 'kick it up a notch'!

I have seen it, but, don't know the exact reason it was painted that way. I believe it was for an airshow, simmilar to the Tiger Meet painted aircraft in tiger stripes, etc. It does look cool though.

Does any one know the story behind Mil-24 Hind painted to look like an Eagle?

I remember hearing that it was used by the CIA in Afghanistan, but a closer look reveals the Hungarian insignia on the tail, so I think that was a myth.

Would make an awesome build with the 1/35 Trumpeter kit, but I do not have the artistic ability to pull it off.

Here are a few links to the helicopter I am talking about in Axls Planes Gallery ( a great site for photos by the way) I haven't figured out how to post an Image sucessfully yet.
