Has anyone built this kit? The limited run parts look rather thick, did you have any problems?

I've never built one of these... keep waiting on a 1/48 or 1/35 (like that day will ever come), but I found a couple good links concerning your kit, hope this helps some.

I was looking for an article I saw the other evening, where the builder reports replacing the fuselage tubes with stretched spru, but can't find it now... I'll look and post if if I find it.

Hello Rob,

Being the only TH55 kit available, I just had to buy it, although I agree with Frank and would rather have seen a 1:48 kit.
I have built the kit and must say I'm pretty pleased with the results. Take into account though that I'm an impatient and fast modeller and I am not too critical on the final results I achieve. In this case I must say I'm relieved to say I don't have a digital camera: no pictures (phew!...).
The fuselage/ cockpit consists of two vacu-form halves; lots of work to make them fit. Be careful with the sanding or you might scratch the canopy. When I finished, I was pretty sure never to build one of those #$%*! vacuformed kits again...
The injection moulded pieces look like they were made by a steelworker and are way too big/ thick. If I would have had to use stretched sprue instead, the kit would have ended up in the dustbin, so I used Evergreen Strip styrene tubes. I used the injection moulded pieces as a reference for the desired length of the tubes.
The resin parts needed a lot of refinement as well, but being the fast modeller I am, I just left it like that.
To get all parts in the right place, I made use of the overall drawing on the box and reference photographs from different sites (Helispot, Airlinersnet etc). The instructions that come with the kit don't clarify much.

As I stated in the beginning: I am pleased with the results, but the kit needs a lot of work.
