Oh man you just made my day .That sea king looks great. I have one in 1/48 scale still in the box and it has the old bicentenial edition decals. I love helos and as for the other navy aircraft...on one shelf in my livingroom I have finished in 1/48 the only navy ace from vietnam in an F-4 Phantom, also a navy skyhawk,an F-8 crusader, a sandy, (the sandy is a exact copy of the one in "We Were Soldiers") But back to helos. I want to find a different navy dacal scheme in 1/48 for my sea king anybody know where to find any?And on the another shelf I've built 10 hueys in all forms, medi-vac,slick,gunship and heavy hog. I'm a nut for the huey

LionBaron,
You don't have to have all CV-70 aircraft in the diorama (tho it would be cool.), just remember to add the gobs of graffiti to the airframes (from the service pool) not of the carrier you are representing. But don't take my word for it, I've only seen pictures of odd instances.

Sweet looking build. A pride fer sure.

Chris , Thanks for the compliment about my latest build, I used the kit decals infact there are 3 decal variations for different units , I masked the canopy framing and handpainted the frames white and black according to the kits instruction booklet, good luck with your diorama project chris I hope it all turns out well for you , thanks for replying to my post, Scott thanks for the compliment also about my build , this kit went together fairly well putting the fuselage together was tricky but if everything is alligned right it will go together fine , I recommend dry fitting them together first to get the allignment right , the rotor is very detailed as well lots of small parts so be carefulnot to lose them in the carpet , I enjoyed building this kit alot , you can save yourself some money if you can find this kit on e-bay which I did , you'll enjoy the detail of this kit as well and as you can see it makes agood looking model when completed it took me approx 30hrs from start to finish , if you need anything else I'd be more than happy to help you , thanks for replying to my post scott I really appreciate it alot.

Very nice job. Are those the kit decals? If they are, how well did they go on the model? I've got one of those kits in the stash myself, but it will be years before I get around to it. How did you paint the canopy framing?

I like your idea for a carrier diorama. I don't have a diorama planed for my SH-3, but it will be part of my CVW-1 collection. I've managed collect all the kits & decals I need to do one aircraft from each unit, with the notable execption of a 1/48 E-2C. That Collectaire resin kit is just too far out of my price range right now . The SH-3 decals will have to come from the kit sheet, plus some handcut decals from solid color decal sheets. Thankfully, HS-11 had rather plain markings on their aircraft painted in the tactical gray scheme.

I am actually making a small part of one , I'm waiting for my verlinden 1/48th modern carrier deck pieces to arrive via mail , as for the CV-70 I'll have to get back to you on that one I don't think I have enough CV-70 decals to go around for all my builds.

Nice job on the Seaking, Earl.

You are going to have one heck of a diorama with the A-7 and Prowler/Intruder!

Regards, Dan

Great work, Earl! Very clean build.
Actually, maybe a little too clean for me! Have you weathered it at all? If you want it clean, of course that's fine, but I think most of the SH-3sI've seen (granted, that's not a great number!) are a bit grimy.
Anyhoo, sweet build!

Earl,
You're going to have an A-7, a SH-3, and an A-6/EA-6 in one diorama in 1/48! Cool [8D] COOL!!! If the Intruder or Prowler looks just as good as the Sea King, it'll be a great dio.

Very nice, clean job on the finish. The red adds a nice touch of color as well. Thanks for posting it.

Hasegawa 1/48th Scale SH-3H Seaking Photos , Finished Build
Posted by LionBaron on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 5:59 PM
Hi everybody , Here is my latest build for my modern aircraft carrier diorama I'm
building , I finished my A-7 corsair last week , now that the seaking is finished I
can concentrate on my next build , either a1/48th intruder or prowler , I have both kits waiting for me , then I can paint my deck crew set from hasegawa last, anyway this build is out of box except I added pilots from my spares box since I like pilots in all my builds if possible , I hope you like the photos and many thanks for taking time to view my latest post here at finescale.com Smile [:)]
