Italeri Apache 1/35
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, August 5, 2004 2:53 PM
Ok I promise this is the last dumb question about 1/35 helicopters. Wink [;)] Is the Italeri AH-1W Super Cobra the same kit as the MRC kit? Are the decals the same?
Thanks again to the people who know.

Rob,

Yep, its a rebox. Good kit from what I know, although I haven't built one. Anyone know about the decals?

Jon
I see where the decals with teh Italeri kit are for : HMLA 169 Persian Gulf 1987 and HMLA 369 Saudia Arabia 1991. I don't know if they are the same as those in the Academy kit. I apologize for my ignorance, but I also am not sure what HMLA stands for. Unfortunately, I don't know much about helicopters, just like to build them.

Rob,

HMLA is the USMC designation for an attack helicopter unit. It is simply H - Helicopter, M- Marine, L- Light, A- Attack. HMLA-369 was the original AH-1J Sea Cobra unit that first saw combat in Southeast Asia in 1971. Cool history. I'm sure some of the other members like SuperCobra could fill you in more on the USMC end of things.

No need to apologize, we're all learning here! You're in the right place!
