Trumpeter HH-65 Dolphin, anyone build this one yet?

hey yall... anyone build the Trumpeter HH-65 dolphin yet? I got one with the Eduard detail set and am ready to go... (actually this is a second one... the first had problems with the paint not wanting to stick well... had to wash then acohol this new one down first and it stuck fine...)

Anyway basically my question is the split main canopy section... how did you manage it? on the first one I built I glued it with MM canopy clue and clear window glue.. then filled with squadron green.. (a nasty little crack is left after gluing) sanded the seam and it still had a slight depression down the middle.. after 2 double checks, some elmers to help fill it etc...

I am thinking on this one, since you can't see the seam.. (it is painted over) I might use ambroids and cement it together down the mid seam, make sure there is no movement... then fill with putty... but use acetone and smooth it down without sanding... I'm even halg tempted to stretch a small diameter sprue and lay it in the gap and use amborids or CA to melt it... into the crack, then I can sand it down... I still have the old one so I can try it on that..

was hoping someone had built this and could give me a heads up before I reinvent the wheel...

BTS: if anyone is thiking of building the kit... the Eduard detail set is a MUST!!!!!!!!!! I built the first one OOB... this detail kit has EVERYTHING... there's a bit of filing and cutting involved with it (of the orignal model) but just the cockpit so far tells me it was well worth the 9 or 10 dollars I spent for it!!! I'll post some pics if anyone is interested as I go along... the instructions are adequate... mostly color coded pics telling you to cut this, fill in that etc... but it's understandable.... and it even corrects some errors I noticed on the OOB model... like the position of the co-pilot joystick etc... certain instrument panel erros were also corrected, they even have the choice of film or cardboard cutout to go behind the PE IP... I recommend the cardboard cutout.. after seeing the real thing, it accurately does the coloring on the dials... the film is all black and white...

anyway.. I appreciate any help I might get from yall!

I've started using Future to "glue" the canopies on almost all my aircraft models. It's a little fidly at times because it takes several minutes to get tacky so you need to be careful of parts falling apart or moving. Once it dries it is very strong, personally I think it is more secure than glued canopies because I've popped out windows when I made a mistake with glue but I stopped out of fear of breaking the part the one time I tried to pop out a futured window. It fills in gaps pretty well and there is no chance of getting glue fogging the windows. If it is a small part that needs a fast drying time I use a little glue but then future over it once dry.

yeah the problem with this one though... is smack down the MIDLINE of this canopy there is a large vertical seam... I'll take a pic when I get home from work so maybe someone who hasnt built it can give me ideas... After seeing the academy CH-46 canopy there is no reason I can see to split this canopy in half... and especially bevel the edges it seems...

here is the seam on the unglued canopy:

it has about 1/4 each side of the seam I have to play with since this will be painted over anyway...
