AH-1Z in progress...PS Thanks RonUSMC
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 7:42 PM
Thanks to RonUSMC, I am able to show people who are interested, what I am doing with Italeri's supossed AH-1Z. As soon as I started putting this together, I realized that it's only a glorified "Whiskey" varient. In fact the only thing that would make it a "Z" is four bladed rotor systems (The tail rotor is a work of imagination and connot be compared to the actual rotor).

So again (hat's off to Ron) here a few pictures. I have yet to figure out how to put pictures in here. I tried, but I think they're to big.

If anyone one has any ideas or comments about anything please let me know. I am a novice so any tips would be useful.

I am also working on a CH-53E. I'll put those on Ron's site too if anybody's interested.

Ron, just out of curiousity, what did you do in the Marine Corps?

WOW... that's pretty cool! Too bad the kit isn't what it's supposed to be. Are the stub wings longer than the Whiskey variant's? Maybe Cobra Co. will have to come out with a conversion kit.

Have you seen the official Bell site yet?

Be sure and check out the "Product Specs" link.

Yes, the weapons pylons are longer. The overall width of the AH-1W is 3.28m and the 'Z' is 4.36m.

Hey Fitter, I've been to that site before and found nothing really useful until you told me to go again, so I did, and guess what? I found something useful. The AH-1Z Pocket Guide. It's a .pdf file for Acrobate and contains some useful information. There are some CG pictures in it that I am trying to aquire, will keep you updated. So thank you.

Cobrahistorian, it's Italeri's AH-1Z in 1/48. But as you can see from my 'improvments,' it's not a very good version.

Posting CH-53E now, look for them in another thread.

Looking good buddy.

To put pics in here.... just go to the pic you want to add... then right click the pic, click properties.. and copy paste it in here. For example...

I went to a thumbnail you had.... got the properties, the url is http://rongeorge.com/albums/working/CP_4.thumb.jpg

then I added that in the image tag
