My first cockpit. Input please. NEW and BETTER Photos
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, December 3, 2004 9:55 AM
Hi all,

This is my first cockpit I've ever done. I'm looking for some input as to how to improve my work.

Thanks,
Jesse

I've included better pics of the cockpit and barrel assembly:

Thanks again,
Jesse

It's really kind of hard to tell in the pic. But, from what I can make out, it looks pretty good.
Now I have a question. What did you use for the gun barrels? They, definitely, don't look like the kit barrels.

Sorry about the pic. I'm still trying to figure out how to take a close detailed picture.

In terms of the barrels, I replaced the kit barrels with brass rod and photo etched parts all soldered together. There are 11 parts just for the barrels. It took me about 4 hours to scratchbuild it all.

Looks awesome! NICE WORK!

For better pics use a good bright light source ....for my models I use two 100 watt bulbs ( I add a second desk lamp to a pre drilled hole on my work desk ) Two bulbs means less shadows and unwanted shading, plus a brighter light brings out a better focus and more detail will be seen.

I have found for modeling work and the best pics I use those GE 'Reveal' pure true lights, it helps with working with colors and the end results are much better!

If you have adobe photo shop or something like that try tweaking the brightness and contrast to bring out the best of your image...also if you can....adjust the cameras indoor/ outdoor and exposure settings as you snap then later you can choose the best pic to use for the net......I have found that a slightly brighter image comes across the net better.....it seems that some images get a bit darker when posted.

Hope this helps!

Nice bird! Cool [8D]

Download a small Software program called "Irfanview" it is 100% free and does a LOT for you.

I use it to enhance colors, convert images, thumbnail creation, etc.

Hi Jesse,

I think your cockpit looks great, from what I can see, but like Randie, my eyes went directly to that fine looking Chain Gun up there!! Big Smile [:D] Thanks for your post!

Take care,
Frank

i think i could use some more definite dry-brushed detail. i can't really make out the dials and switches, but maybe that's just the picture.

Nice gun!!

It looks great. I hav'nt built many choppers. What I did build, went to my little brother as playthings to be destroyed. Maybe soon I'll have to pull one out of model stash to build. Ihave a 1/32nd kit that was started and given to me. That might be the one to finish.

I think it looks fantastic! Very well done. The gun is exceptional too.
