Higgens,

Looks like it's going quite well. Are there any odds-takers out there that says you'll finish it? ;) LOL

Keep up the quality work.

Hey Dude, just found this web site and saw that you are building a CH-53E. This could be the greatest helicopter ever built. I had the pleasure of crewing CH-53 A/D and E models over a short 20 year career in the U.S. Marines. I retired in 2004 and I'm looking for something to help fill some time that doesn't keep me out of the house for long periods of time.  I would like to know where you got your model and some of your tips during the build process.

Thanks and Semper Fi

Don't think you will get a reply from Higgens any time soon.  The above post is from 2003, the link to his pics is dead, and he hasn't been active on the site since 2004.

However...

Italeri did a 1/72 CH-53E.  It was a pretty good kit, but is currently out of production.  It can be found on eBay from time to time.

Academy recently released a 1/48 CH-53E that is a great kit.  I highly recommend it.  Here is a review of it.

There are also a number of treads on this site from members who built the CH-53E. One of the better ones is here:

I highly recommend Academy's 1/48 scale CH-53E.  I use to work on these beasts until about a year ago.  Check out my photobucket page for some pics of my 53e builds and some reference pics of the real thing.  There are a couple of aftermarket updates for the kit.  I built my kit before they were available, but pictures of them look pretty good.
