Posted by Papa-Echo-64 on Friday, December 3, 2004 8:19 PM
ARGHHHH!!!!!!

No one will answer e-mails!

Is Panda even in business anymore?

Is there any news or hints of a HOOK in 1/48 or 1/35 scale from other companies?

"I know.....I don't post for ever,,,,then I come up with this old, pointless, over done, waste of time, done that-been there, NOT AGAIN! question".....please forgive me......BUT! I gotsta know! Tongue [:P]

Right now I'm working on finishing a project I started 4 1/2 years ago....the Minicraft 1/350 scale TITANIC with full lighting and over 170.00 bucks worth of photo etch brass and decals! AHHH!!!!!! Eight cargo cranes and all those life boats with seperate decals and P/E davit sets! HOLY COW! where are my meds! [:0]
After that its going to be a 1/24 scale Hawker Harrier! I can't wait!

Yo Troy,

The Panda Chinook is on simmer it seems, and although there's been talk of others, nothing concrete has yet materialized. [:/]

I'm about 75% along on a 14 month project Titanic build myself, the old 1/570th Revell kit I'm fixing up "diorama" style for my Daughters graduation present. LOTS & LOTS of scratch building structures, with two of the Merchant Rails & Ladders sets, and five Passenger & Crew PE cards. Fiber optics, interior lighting, posed as she appeared at 1:20am on April 15th; "Down at the head to the name, with a noticeable list to starboard", with the appropriate lifeboats being loaded, lowered, and in the water.

I'm also going to make a distress rocket that's just been fired, using fiber optics and rolled angel hair, as well as puffs of vapor from the steam vents on the funnels. I used two kits, so as to have enough Sirocco & Cowl vents to go around, and also as a "then & now" subject for later photographs. Here's now it will be set up:

Take care buddy, Smile [:)]
Frank

PS: I also found a unique picture that shows a detail I haven't found indicated in any of the modeling guides....

Notice the support post for the overhang on the aft portion of A Deck... the outer supports are LADDERS (no post.... it's also apparent in that picture of the little boy spinning the top), and there's another support post that sits behind each of these ladders, back away from the edge. HI Hooker! Its good to hear from ya! Big Smile [:D]

Sounds like one of those "I'm gonna need therapy when this is done" kinda project! Tongue [:P] Can't wait to see this one!

The coolest P/E set I have is from THOMAS MODELS...One of his sets has all the window framework! all you do is airbrush the parts and use that Testors window maker and whalah! you have beautiful 1/350th scale windows for the whole ship! even the fancy Cafe windows and sliding glass cafe doors in the rear.

For Christmas I asked for the Gold Medal Models 'LIFE BOAT DAVIT' set.
Man it feels great to get this one done!

The hull is cut for waterline ( thats just a blue towl )
The port hole optics are .040 and are cut only the width of the hulls plastic then mass lit from ( soon to experiment ) with code cathode lighting tubes....I was going to use T style florecent lamps but they give off just a hair too much heat.

I also had to make all my deck surfaces out of evergreen sheet some kind of groove but I can not remember what scale or style....funny you can not even see the deck lines in the pic....according to Mr. Perry of GMM the 1/350th kits raised deck lines at that scale make them about 8 or 12 inch wide planks! I believe the TITANICS deck planks were only 3 1/2 inches wide ( I could be wrong ) so my technique puts them at about 4 to 6 wide wich is much better. The sheet stuff that I used is the smallest they have I think?
