ALTERNATIVE TO MODEL MASTER HELO DRAB?

Hi all

I just found out that Model Master paints aren't being brought into my country anymore. Therefore I have two questions:

1. Do any other Manufacturers make the same colour?
2. Which combo of paints could I mix to get the correct shade?

When the Army first started using that color(mid 70's) I matched it to the paint chip I made from some touch-up paint we used. I mixed two parts OD to one part flat black.

I might have a spray can alternative. I tried it out this weekend on an RAH-66 and I think it looks promising.

The sun finally returned!!!! (good thing because I was getting out the building supplies and collecting the animals 2x2). So here's my Commanche with the first coat of the paint on it. You can see the edges that have been "buffed" due to handling or things brushing up against it, but overall I think it looks good.

It's Aervoe brand camouflage paint labeled 992 MC Green (34052). I found it by accident.

According to Urban Fredriksson's Color Reference Charts (http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/stuff_eng_colorcharts_fs.htm), Xtracolor has Helo Drab in their line. I haven't seen it in person, so I can't vouch for its accuracy.

Wow, killer T-tail conversion on that Comanche! The color you used looks pretty accurate too, has nice scale appearance.

Thanks Albert! All I need to finish it are my decals from TwoBobs and my toothpaste to run out before I swipe the cap to build the Longbow mast radome!

Trigger, I'll see if I can find Aervoe spraycans. Cool looking RAH-66, hope mine turns out as good in the Attack Helo GB.

Albert, I'll see if I can track down Xtracolour paints.
Otherwise I'll try to order the paints directly online instead of going via a Hobbyshop.

Color looks really good to me! And I like the T tail Comanche too. Wish someone would make one in 35th!

Thanks guys, and I hope I helped you out John. I found that paint at the local Army/Navy store (which means that somewhere in Southeast Tennessee, someone's fishing boat or ATV is that color!)

I managed to get hold of 3 MM Helo Drab bottles this past weekend.
I recently bought an airbrush so forgive my ignorance with my next question. With the airbrush roughly, how many 1/48 models will I get out of the 3 bottles?

Trigger, is your RAH-66 1/72 or 1/48? Did you come across any problem areas?

It's 1/48. There's a seam inside the tail fan that's not much fun and cockpit detail is lacking (I didn't want to spend too much time on it) but otherwise assembly is simple and straightforward.
