Fireball Modelworks...
Posted by albymoore on Monday, December 6, 2004 4:43 PM
Hi Gents,
I just received some resin castings from a new company called Fireball Modelworks. Their first offering is a conversion set for a late Vietnam War AH-1G Cobra using Revell/Monogram's 1/32nd scale kit. There are 7 parts which include an Anti-Strella exhaust deflector, exhaust pipe, cowl, exhaust cowl deflector plate, Auxillary intake scoops (x2), and a RH tail rotor mount fin. The parts are cast in white resin and are absolutely flawless. There are detailed instructions on how to intall the parts, a cuople of reference pics, plus information on additional references. Cost is $12.00 for the set plus $5.00 for shipping.

EDIT: The web address isn't working, so here's the scoop:

QUOTE: Hello everyone;
I have just completed a resin update set for the Revell 1/32 Hueycobra and production is underway. The set consists of seven parts: the 1972 anti-Strella deflector kit (4 separate parts, 1 to 3 in the picture), a replacement exhaust cowling with the fins at the base of the tailrotor shaft cover (part 4), the exhaust pipe to fit into this new cowling (part 5), and a replacement tail fin with the rotor on the right-hand side (part 6).

By combining this set with the Revell kit, you can correctly model a Hueycobra from the later Vietnam war era. The price for the set is $12.00US plus shipping and handling (via Priority Mail in the US, the flat cost is $5.00 for one or more sets), and I will ship it anywhere in the world (via USPS Air Parcel). I will accept US checks, money orders, or PayPal. To order, send an email with your name, mailing address, and form of payment to models@josephosborn.org. The sets will be ready for shipment the first week of December. If you know of anyone in the modeling community who do not use the internet but may be interested in this Hueycobra update set, please give them a heads-up.

Thanks for your support,
Joseph Osborn

Albert,
Saw the post with these over at HeliKit News a while ago. The set looks good in the pics, how are they in actual resin? Looks like an interesting conversion set. May just have to get one for myself, then I would need a Revell AH-1G to go with it. Then maybe the Cobra Company XM-35 20mm cannon to go on it as well. And Cobra Company resin cockpit set...And...And.... The vicious cycle never ends!!!

Gino,
LOL, no doubt. I have already invested part of my children's college fund into Cobra Co. sets and other goodies. Hi, my name is Albert, and uh, I'm an addict. Tongue [:P]

The castings in life look as good as they do in the pic. The tailfin has nice detail with the rivets molded in place, and everything is as smooth as baby's ****** (for lack of a better term). Well worth the price.

Cheers,

Good deal!!! Like Gino, I had seen the ad that you posted but, was a little leary about ordering it for fear that the detail wouldn't be that great.
But, I have seen your helo builds, Albert. And if you say it's good? That's good enough for me!!!!! Thumbs Up [tup]
