                        I just went to www.stevenshobby.com and clicked on product listings, then I proceeded to click on plastic kits which listed all the brands that they carry. There I clicked on Trumpeter and when the listing of kits showed up I started scrolling down the list. About 3/4 to 4/5 of the way down the list of kits was this ....................                         Due to two previous episodes of "Oh boy, it's finally going to happen", which foundered right before our very eyes, I'm going to restrain my celebration until I see an actual price assigned to it.... which would mean the manufacturer has at least figured out a marketing strategy, and ready to begin taking orders.

                        People bought up those 1/35 CH-46's like Rolaids on election day; maybe someone's FINALLY figured out the same thing would happen with a Chinook!

                        Just for my own information, how big would that bird be in 1/35? Are we looking at a minimum $100 US kit here?

                        Yep....Two bad things about this kit being a 'Trumpeter' kit:

                        1. Its going to be a 80.00 to 100.00 buck kit for sure.

                        2. Trumpeter, though they have released kits that no one else will and they do release a good amount of kits within a short time they have ben known to make mistakes on measurements, corrrect placement of objects, and a few more small things.

                        What the heck!.....for a kit like this Iv'e waited so long I'll pay the dang price and deal with a few in anaccuracies!

                        I wonder though....is this the same kit that Panda may have started? those companies have been known to share molds and such?

                        I'd say that's exactly what's happened, given Panda's sudden cloak, especially if the molds were already made.... (which I assume they were, since Panda had already announced an "in the ballpark" release date)

                        And then... I wonder what ever became of the Molds that MRC created.... wouldn't that be a miracle; a Trumpeter kit with MRC quality!! Shock [:O]

                        Lemon, we figured out one time about the length of a 35th Hook (didn't we Troy?), the fuselage would be close 2ft, plus the rotor diameter... probably would require at least a 5ftX3ft display area. Shock [:O]

                        Speaking with the knowledge of having had my "fingers in the pie", much of the conjecture mentioned above is true. Things got passed around because of "shortfalls" in die cutting and SOMEBODY was going to use them. And the orginator of the whole thing MAY reconsider the project. Two of those foreign manufacturers are related, one made toys the other more sophisticated injection molded items. The "toys" maker put out a few items that looked alot like toys so the big brother has figured out that nice things sell better. Anybody putting two and two together? Yeah, they still make errors but guess what I do? I buy them and FIX the errors and enjoy my models! And some of you interested parties out there get the opportunity to share in my work when I offer it for sale.

                        I sure wish you did 'other' aircraft detail sets too.....everything for a 1/24 scale Harrier is from the U.K. is too bloody expensive! and after reading a few reviews on FLIGHTPATH's huge brass set for the GR3 Harrier ...I think I will make my own improvements the old fashioned way! lots of pictures and hit the old spare parts and misc metal bits boxes!

                        Sign - Ditto [#ditto] I have a great diorama planned with a MH-47E/G Chinook and the Ranger Regiment. I can't wait to start on it, but I'm not going to scratchbuild a Chinook in 1/35 scale... I wouldn't have enough money to pay for the meds I'd need.

                        I like the way that Trumpeter will produce kits others are afraid to do. The 1/32 A-10 was a great starting point. That one was actually announced by Hasegawa shortly after Desert Storm (1991) then nothing! I have a few Trumpeter kits and they are good. I will be in line to get a Chinook. I used to live near a CH-47 Army National Guard base in Washington and would watch them all the time.

                        Was that Pain Field south Everett or Fort Lewis?

                        I really miss that THUMP THUMP of those HOOKS of the 92nd when they were at Pain Field! The 92nd was the unit my buddy Mr. Combs was with before he retired, Mr. Combs was with the 173rd Robinhoods AHC in Nam 68-69.

                        This kit 'in progress' has changed hands 'maybe' three times already and who knows WHEN it will be done or by WHO?

                        Panda was stupid for not making a 1/35 Hook one if thier FIRST few kits.

                        This is the 1/35 Chinook Master Mold that MRC produced a couple years ago... sent to me by Wayne Mutza, who consulted with them on the project. (I know, makes your mouth water, doesn't it?) [:0]

                        I'm just assuming these are the same molds that Panda aquired, and now possibly Trumpeter...?                         I think they *puddied* them on for photographic appearances..... Wayne mentioned MRC was intending on including parts for the "A", "B", "C", "D", & "ACH-47" versions with a MASSIVE 2 sheet decal selection included.

                        Man, wouldn't that be sweet!!
