Kiowa camo goes digital!!

Makes you wonder what they were thinking. I like the digi camo because even with NVG's on you still disappear, unlike the current woodland camo which is great for hinding in vegatation but at night w/ NVG's you stand out like a sore thumb. I cant think any aircraft would get so close to someone with NVG's that it would make a difference. Even if you did, they may not be able to see you but they'll certainly hear your engines...

I for one will glady give the USMC credit for the digi camo. I was part of the test group trying out all the different uniforms the Army was fielding and all of us were screaming for the Digi Camo. For awhile we didnt think they would bite but low and behold we got our digi camo (thanks to the USMC) Why they decided to change the style/cut to the one they went with is still beyong me and several of the other testors.... we cant stand it Velco pockets on a soldier is bad news waiting to happen. Hmm I need to look at my map.... rrriiippp. and if the enemy didnt know where you were before they sure do now. Im still laughing at the AirForces efforts to change thier uniforms to TigerStriped camo with blue in it !!! Thats a friendly fire incident waiting to happen. Though I did read I think it was last month on the cover of the Airforce times that they had changed thier minds due to an outcry from airman. I think just about blue in the uniform though, thier still gonna go with the tiger stripes. Crazy

It was an experimental scheme on an Australian Kiowa. Just thought it was kinda interesting.

Gents, that is actually a photo of an experimental Aussie cammo scheme that was not selected. It is not used by any army out there. Does look cool and would be a b@#$% to paint.

I've seen that pic before. It's from the 70s. I don't remember if it was US Army or a European nation.

Looking at it closer, it's definately a different pattern than the current PATs. Whereas MARPAT, CADPAT, ACUPAT and NAVPAT are random areas of color to disrupt the form and break up the outline, this is a series of vertical bands whose edges are squared off, not too dissimilar to the Air Force's new "TigerPAT."

I gotta ask - what is that the duct tape is holding in place? Aluminum?

Amen that, it seams that all services saw the USMC digital camo and are now trying it out.

How do they keep their aircraft that clean?
