Mi-6 Hook, Mi-26 Halo??????
Posted by awan on Sunday, January 2, 2005 8:12 PM
I am looking for a model of the Mi-6 Hook, and the Mi-26 Halo helicopters. These helicopters seem to be available from VERY small manufacturers, but I cant find any of them. Can anyone help? I prefer 1/48, but any scale is good at the moment.

Thanx

Anthony

Hi Anthony,

Hijacked the answers from the HKN-forum:
The Mi6 appears to have been released by a former Soviet company, named Plastikart. According to some HKN forum members, scale must have been somewhere in between 1:72 and 1:100... The opinions on the quality of the kit vary with the scale estimates.
The Mi26 is (to be?) released in 1:72 by Sanger. Sadly but understandibly it's a vacuform kit. Sanger must have a website, but the URL I have doesn't work.

Good Luck!

The above mentioned company Plastikart was East German and I don't think anyone is currently reissuing their kits. I've built a couple of their kits and while I'd say they're generally workable, they are a bit rough and the plastic is quite hard and brittle.

The only Mi26 kit I've ever heard of was a 1/144 resin kit, but I can't remember the manufacturer's name.

Thanx for your time, if anything else turns up, please let me know. Does Aircraft Models or Plastikart, or Sanger have a website? I think GeejeeZ said that the Sanger website didn't work....

Thanx again!

Hold your horses on this one: latest news is that Amodel will release an Mi6, and Zvezda an Mi26. Both in 1:72 (too bad ZokissimaSad [:(] ).
I Don't know Amodel, but the Zvezda kit will be injection moulded.

If you are after reference photos for the Mi-26 go to the Helicopter walkaround site. There are heaps of photos of it there including about 70+ that I took in East Timor of the UN Mi-26.
