did this kit ever happen? I remember the many rumors but I lost touch with the site before it actually was "supposed' to be released.

Pharoah,

Nope, not yet, although it looks like Trumpeter will be releasing it this year. Panda crapped out on us, but things are looking up for a 35th scale Hook.

I have been searching for more updated info on the Trumpeter Chinook but nothing has been posted.

All that I have found is that its still a go for 2005.

Hope that is true!

I think Trumpeter will deliver!!! I'm thinking that they got ahold of the MRC molds and are planning to do the differant versions of the Chinook!! I think we can expect good quality too. I cant wait!!

Grandad,
Thats my EFMB (expert field medic badge) Looks the same as the CMB (combat medic badge). The CMB has oak leaves surrounding the badge. The CMB you can only get when you are in combat for 60 or more days.

Looked like it forgot the oak leaves, but the expert badge is still hard to earn

yes it is. Some medics comming home from Iraq are having a hard time choosing which to wear when they have both. The choice isn't as easy as it may sound.

Grandad,

The only 1/48 CH47A Chinook was the done by AURORA models in the early sixties and then again in 1970.
It's very crude but with some work in can be very nice! The most common place to find this hook is on ebay and averages around 70.00 to 150.00 smackers.

Maybe MRC wanted to stay with 1/48th helos and that is ok with me as long as I get at least one HOOK in 1/35!

I would be very happy with some NEW, accurate and High quality helos in 1/48th scale like a Jolly Green Giant etc etc.

Hey Troy,
Big time Ditto on the 1/48 scale HH-3 series. I honestly can't belive there isn't already one out there on the market considering the history of the bird. I'd like to see an HH-3E and an HH-3F.
How can we get someone to listen to demand and produce one????

OK Pals!

This is from a American in China who is contracting me to build a model for him soon....anyways.....I asked him if he could look into the 1/35 Chinook thing for me and here is what I have so far.....This could be very interesting!

Speaking of the wife, I did a search on Trumpeter models. Turns out they are only about 20km from my house. The wife gave them a call and chatted like old classmates. We now have the address for their distributor in Guangzhou, the tiny little village of 11 million about an hour north of our here. We were going to Guangzhou tomorrow anyway to look through more distributors so we’ll add them to the list and take a look tomorrow. On Monday I’ll have one of the sourcing engineers from the company I work for give their factory a call and we’ll see if we can’t get some more information on the Ch47 Chinook.

COOL!

Sounds cool, PE-64
Would we be pressing our luck if we sent along a list of other kits we'd like to see in 1/35? Big Smile [:D] (CH-46E, HH-3, CH-53E, lol, might as well go big)

No, but I'd love to see it in print. I have several other good ones. Don't get me wrong, the current twobobs Whiskey sheet is outstanding, but a few more noseart selections would be cool Smile [:)] I think I may try my hand at printing some myself on some decal paper...see what happensDead [xx(]

YES!!!!!!

Here is what I got today!!

Hey Troy

Good fortune was smiling on you today! Had one of the Sourcing Engineers call Trumpeter Models. They connected with the Trumpeter sales and marketing department who confirmed that the 1:35 scale Ch47 Chinook will be released in the US in Sept and in China in Oct 2005!

We’ll call them again in a couple of months to confirm, as delivery dates in China have a habit of “slipping” but they did acknowledge the build schedule, so that’s a very good thing.

FAR OUT!!!! Big Smile [:D]

Well, guess I need to really start saving my allowance and clearing an LZ for this monster in the office! Eight months should give me enough time to get a few kits built.
