According to the forum rules, there are no posts regarding selling/trading or things of that nature allowed. I wish they'd just create an area for that. Every other modeling forum seems to have it. But maybe they don't as their advertisers would think that it detrements from their sales.

Ok, this is wierd. It says that my post "Anyone need...?" is the latest that someone replied to, yet it isn't showing up in the forum, and it is telling me that I don't have access to this forum when I click on it. What gives?

All I did was offer up a few kits for trade... is that so wrong?! Sad [:(]

The post was removed because of the Kalmbach policy to not allow the buying, selling, or trading of items on any of our websites that have a forums area. There are many factors involved in the policy but it is at least partially due to the fact that allowing buying, selling, and trading would be a disservice to the online banner, buttton, and classified advertisers that help make this site possible.

I'm also a member of (2) slot car web forums, both of which are supported by advertisers. Both boards allow, with the advertisers blessing, For Sale/Want Ads. The only stipulation is that the sites not be used, (I'm pasting in the rules): This board is for individuals looking to purchase, sell or trade used or hard to find items. This is not a place to dump New merchandise, which severely undercuts the sponsors of this site. Thank you for your cooperation.

As far as we can tell, this is pretty much followed. Anyone who violates, we ignore, let the moderator know, and "poof!" their gone.

So cobra wants to give a kit away? Might have been going to someone who wasn't going to spend money in the near future at a LHS.

So I want to buy a long out of production kit(s) that no LHS or website has? Can't see that hurting any advertiser. They won't have the product to begin with.

I think KALMBACH should revisit this policy. And if any advertisers complain, maybe let us know, so we can be better informed consumers.

Scale Auto doesn't allow trading/selling on the forum, we have to do it via email.

Michael,

I thought the reason for this forum was to foster further enjoyment of the hobby as a community where modelers can get together and discuss issues, techniques, kits, etc? Offering up a few kits that I have to GIVE to my fellow modelers on the helicopter forum is not going to impact anyone's business negatively. As Don said, it would most likely contribute to their business through aftermarket sets, etc. Certainly advertising kits I have for sale is not appropriate here, and I'd never consider doing that!

We've formed quite a tight-knit group here and with the help I've received (and given) over the past few years, I'm more than happy to let the kits I have go to any one of the guys here for absolutely nothing.

Anyhow, I've said my peace. I think its a silly policy, but then again, when don't we have to deal with silly policies. No worries.

I admittedly don't spend too much time on the scaleautomag website, but ScaleAuto has a much smaller staff than FSM and I suspect taking the time to remove the posts may be pretty far down on their priority list, but their policy toward buying, selling, and trading in the forums should be the same as ours.

Too bad.
Jon and I traded a while back and both got a great deal no harm no foul to the advertisers in FSM, in fact I had to buy some aftermarket stuff for the model I got in trade. I don't think the advertisers complain too much when they supply a model for review and it gets a bad rating do they?

It's been an issue since the very beginning here, but other than swapping model for model, 'trading' is not allowed. We'll just have to live with it, I think.

Aparently so. I have seen a post in another forum here asking about adding a Buy, Sell,Trade Forum like other sites have. The reply from FSM personnel was that it was not allowed by them because their advertisers didn't approve of it since it could cut into their sales. Sounds like total bull to me, but this site is supported by a magazine that is ultimately out to make money. I guess you stepped on somebody's toes over it. I don't agree with the policy, but if you like, Armorama.com has a good Buy, Sell, Trade forum, you could also offer them up at Helikit News as well.

Yeah, cobra, I dunno. The forum was acting up late last night. I saw your post, though. After awhile of surfing, I couldn't even view any post in the forum at all. Seems to be working now.
