Aquiring a CH-53E kit
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, February 14, 2005 4:54 PM
Can anyone give me some insight as to where I can purchase a CH-53E kit? I have checked several local shops and quite a few online. The closest I've come is receiving a "Sold Out" message. I have found a "G" model but I need an "E". Any assistance would GREATLY be appreciated.

I only know of Italeri making a straight CH-53E kit in 1/72 scale, but in all honesty it doesn't do the bird justice to say the least. I was an avionics Tech in Tustin, El Toro, and finally Miramar in HMH-462. Believe me, I am waiting just as impatiently....lol There was a person in the forum who was supposedly going to make a 1/48 and a 1/32 scale CH-53E garage kit, (Nightflight models I believe) but his website has since disappeared off of the map! Most people convert the G model to an E, which for me at my modeling skill level is not very comforting!! Good luck, and Semper Fi!!

Yea, I'm lookin' for an "E" also.

How much work is there in changing a "D" to an "E"?

Try Ebay or just continue to browse your LHS and you may get lucky in finding a 1/72 Revell/Monogram (Germany) or Italeri kit. A few members have been trying to find this kit. Ridle build his "E" into an great looking bird. Good luck!
