Thanks for that info.. I guess I simply dont have the skill or confidence to completely re-do it.. I have had another thought.. As an Australian, I always wanted our Army to pick up the Cobra, but never did.. So I am now thinking about a what if build.. Would be nice to see the AH-1W in Australian Camo.. Little Kangaroo on the side!.. Anyways, Hobbying is for fun.. SO I plan on having alot of fun with this kit!

QUOTE: As I know little about the Cobra (other than I am starting to love it). I am guessing there wouldnt be a way to convert it to an F.. I have to look at some reference pictures!... Your help is always appreciated gentlemen!

Yes, it can be done, I did it. I converted it to an S model, basically the same exterior as an F.

Check out this thread. http://www.network54.com/Forum/thread?forumid=163130&messageid=1106206194

It took the combo of 2 kits , MRC AH-1W and a Revell AH-1G to accomplish, but can be done.

QUOTE: ps.. How big is the 1/35 Cobra.. Measurements?

Length, nose to tail about 16", Rotor span also about 16".

Thanks AH1Wsnake, Cobrahistorian...

Well.. I m kinda at a loss then.. Oh well.. I have actually just finished doing a JGSDF Apache in 1/72 scale..

I have never been one for rules, so I may still do the AH-1W in Japanese camo anyways.. Thats if you guys dont have a problem with it? hehehe Respect your opinions greatly!.. As I know little about the Cobra (other than I am starting to love it). I am guessing there wouldnt be a way to convert it to an F.. I have to look at some reference pictures!... Your help is always appreciated gentlemen!

Sorry, Chris, but the JGSDF does not use any AH-1Ws.
The current model that they use is the AH-1F, with the last one delivered to them in 2000. I also found an article online that says the Japanese gov't has long range plans to build the AH-64 Longbow in-country, and Boeing plans to deliver them their first Apache in 2006.
The only major players to use the AH-1W outside the US are Turkey and Taiwan. Sorry, I know that's not what you wanted to hear.

Cobrahistorian, correct me if I'm wrong on the international cobras, lol Bow [bow]

Thanks for that guys.. And yes, it is the AFV Club kit!.. Thanks for reminding me.. To be honest, I rushed a little when I bought it, as I wanted to do it as a Japanese bird.. But I am not sure if the Japanese use the AH-1W?.. But I will still have fun with it. Believe me!

I think I read somewhere that an overseas company (I'm thinking AFV club?) sells a reboxed MRC bird with the Taiwan decals and a couple extra goodies, like solid metal gun barrels. Either way, the MRC kit is a good one, and the Cobra Company detail set is outstanding. Twobobs also sells an amazing decal sheet for USMC aircraft. If you are planning the build the Taiwanese version, go to www.airliners.net/photos/. If you use some search parameters like "AH-1W" and "Taiwan", you will find about a dozen high resolution pictures of a brand-spanking new Taiwan AH-1W. I mean, this thing looks like it just got off the boat from Bell-Textron! There are some good close-ups at different angles that should provide for good references and painting ideas.
Have fun with your build!

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] It's either the MRC Cobra or the rebox Italeri of the MRC kit. Either way, it is a very good build. Taiwan has some of the most updated Cobras so the Cobra Company upgrade would give you an really authenitic build. Have fun!

Chris,

If it is a 1/35th AH-1W, it is probably the MRC kit, in which case you're in for a fun build! It is a really good kit, and if you get the Cobra Company NTS upgrade, it is even better!

Hi guys.. I have just purchased the 1/35 AH-1W Super Cobra that HLJ still has in stock.. It is the one with the Taiwanese markings.. The problem is that I havnt heard about the manufacturer before, and as I am at work, I cant remember the name off hand.. Has anyone bought this Kit before, and what good and bad points do you give it?.. I am guessing its a Taiwanese company that produces it...Any help would be great!
