Nice collection you've got there. If you hadn't said what scale, I would have guessed 1/48. I tip my hat to you for working in 1/72, and turning out such great builds! Thanks for the photos.

Well, I need anything for Australian Army helicopters.. Black Kangaroo's and "Army" markings... Basically anything I can get.. 1/72 scale, but also a couple of things for 1/35 as well.. I also would like to do a 1/72 scale F/18 and a Hawk trainer... I can get my hands on most kits here, so happy to trade...

I am only comming home for a brief holiday.. Dont plan on buying kits.. I am just interested in what they are worth now days in Australia.. I guess I have been spoilt here in Japan, as this is where they are all made, so I guess I dont have to pay shipping fees and taxes ect...

Where in Perth are you.. I lived in Quinns Rock back in 95

The 1:72 kits are pretty easy to get here in Perth and retail for under $20. I imagine that they would be available all over Australia?

ga.modler. I dont really have much of a technique per say.. I basically use a medium sized brush that allows me to do small thin sections, but also a wider section aswell.. To avoid the paint becomming blotchy, I usually brush in long fluid strokes.. Even if you can still see through the paint, I always let it dry, and will do it again when dry.. I found when I was rushing, and I didnt let the paint dry properly, that I would be painting over wet paint, and it would rub and smudge.. best to take your time, and then redo it later.. I also find a subject with the desired scheme on it, and take it from there.. I also avoid trying to make the scheme too accurate, as if you concentrate on that too much, you will lose the free flowing feeling when painting.. Just go with it.. God, that isnt much of an explination is it? hehehe

ps. Your in Savannah?.. I used to live in Atlanta.. My best friend has moved from the city to Darien, about 30 mins south of Savannah.. Do you know it?

John. Both kits are 1/72 Tamiya kits from their "Warbird" series..Basically re-boxed Italeri kits..If you cant find one, let me know. I have one unbuilt kit in my stash... As for 1/35, the only Kiowas I can find, are the "Black Death" and "Warrior Thugs" kits.. I was also told by a fellow member that Revel made a 1/35 Kiowa, but you have to modify it for an Australian bird.. The B Death and Thug kits would need way too much work to do as an Australian kit.... Although in my mind, its time for Australia to get a Black Death Kiowa (in 1/35 scale) hehehe

My only problem, is getting my hands on Australian military decals...

Great builds, Chris! Love it!
Hmm I wonder if my LHS has that kit?? I haven't seen it there...
What kit is that Kiowa, Chris? I have a 1/35 Blackhawk & 1/32 UH-1H Huey is Auscam and I plan to get all the helos from the ADF. Tigre & Kiowa are next on the list though!
Cheers,
John

Wasn't sure if you had the same boxing for the Tamiya stuff back home.. I will back in Brisbane at the end of next month, and am interested in what models cost down there now!.. As for these kits. I pick them up for about Yen600 US$5, so they are good to buy in a big bunch.. But the quality is a little rough.. And I noticed that they still have Italeri molded onto the plastic.. But with a bit of work, they can usually build into something great... I do however prefer Hasegawa hands down!

Brian, thanks again, always great to get your encouragement!

Chris

Yeah, they are around AU$15-20 here, about the same price as Italeri kits of the same subject.

cheers

Thanks for your comments hook..

Mike. Yes it is the old Italeri kit.. It is re-boxed by Tamiya, and here in Japan they have released a whole bunch of kits called the "Warbird Collection"..

If you are wanting to build the Tigre. Sadly this is the only kit in 1/72. But I have heard of a 1/48 version aswell.. As for this kit, it is very old compared to the new advances with this bird, so it will need alot of work to bringing it up to date.. I am happy with the result I have, but will want to impove them over time!

Thanks guys..
