Alex7,
The helo in your picture is a VH-60, Marine One bird. But it is not black/white. The upper surface area is white, the darker color below is a very dark green. Here is an example:

There is Black and White scheme for Blackhawk helicopter. I don't know if it's Marine One scheme, but it looks close. On this photo I made in DC 2 weeks ago it has white top. Photo is not good at all but the top is white and it's not ICE.
I was trying to figure it out - to which US department this one belongs to make the comment right. And still has no idea. May be it's a spare Marine one :)

I live in the Washington DC area (Alexandria, VA) and Customs UH-60s based out of Reagan National Airport are always flying low-level patrols up and down the Potomac river.

AC-130A/Es in Vietnam were black on the sides and undersides, but the tops were standard SEA colors of two greens and tan. After Vietnam they were repainted overall FS36118 and in the 90s they received the two-tone AFSOC scheme Sal linked to. To my knowledge, only the first AC-130U wore a European 1 scheme, and that too was soon replaced by the AFSOC scheme.

And the Little Birds belong not to Delta, but to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (along with MH-6s, MH-60L/K and MH-47). All Little Birds and MH-60Ls are faded black. I think most of the MH-47s and MH-60Ks are too; however, gray, Helo Drab or even desert tan Kilo and/or Chinooks pop up from time to time. There was a thread a while back about gray Nightstalkers along with links to a pic on airiners.net of a Kilo and Chinook sitting on the ramp in Knoxville from 2003. Sal once told me about a couple of MH-47s that he saw in Nevada a few years back that were overpainted in desert tan (I think it was temp paint that came off real easy).

Actually, Marine One is a two-tone scheme of glossy dark green and gloss white.

Actually, AC-130's are not painted black rather the same two-toned gray scheme that our HC-130's and MC-130's are sporting. Has pretty much been AFSOC and AF CSAR standard for a while now. Check out these pics taken back in 2001.

Best paint to use is Model Master US Army Helo Drab. The actual paint used on the aircraft is pretty tough and doesn't fade that much. I think the faded OD is way too light. OD is too light in its regular form. I wouldn't go any lighter than the Helo Drab.

I believe the US Customs UH-60A's are now armed at least with the M-60 window guns and also Special ops AC-130's are also flat black as well and as far as I know so are the AH-6 Littlebirds used by Delta Force and what color is the Marine1 presidential helicopter is it Flat black or dark Blue and white?

Oh and I forgot I have the UH-60L blackhawk and plan on using Testors Model Master Faded Olive Drab would this be a even more accurate color to use since Army Blackhawks are constantly out in the elements and subject to fading paint due to contact with sunlight.

Sal,
Whoa, 10 MB might be too much for my email account. I'll wait and see if you get them uploaded. Thanks though.

Gino,
I actually just got finished trying to open an account with Armorama (following your lead), however I had some problems when I tried to finish and it displayed a message saying "my e-mail addresses didn't match". Well I re-checked my submission and they DID in fact match, sooooo I wrote an e-mail to the webmaster.
If this works out I'll post them on my new (hopefully) account with Armorama. If not, I'll open an account with Photobucket.
Stay tuned folks. I'll post a reply on this thread when they're up.

Sal

Sal,
You can post them to a free hosting site like Photobucket or one of the others. Then you can either directly link them to here, or you can post the link to your album with them in it.

I just passed all my photos on to Unknownpharoah. I gave him shots of VC-13's F-5's, NSAWK's F-16's & F-18's, and lots of other stuff including the threat center's Hind and Hip. Since they're located on my computor and I don't have a webpage, I'm not sure how I would get them on line to show them here.

Maybe unknownpharoah knows how.

Robert, You used the perfect paint for a green UH-60. The Testors Helo Drab is an out of the bottle match for the color used on a standard UH-60. Flat black is only used on the 160th SOAR MH-60L DAPs as are all 160th SOAR birds for that matter (well, after about '93-'94 timeframe anyways).

I remember seeing US Customs Blackhawks back in 1995 when I was doing some training down in San Angelo Texas.

Don't forget the NSAWC SH-60F that's painted semi-gloss black. If you want I've got a couple photos of this bird and their brown/tan camo Hind simulating Blackhawk, that I took back in 2003. Let me know if you want the pics.

Not as far as I know, they use them mainly to shadow drug-running aircraft and then land with agents to arrest them(wish they would sometime when the bad guys don't want to co-operate). Have some based in Tuscon too.

Nope, 1/35th Academy MH-60L DAP 160th SOAR.

You can read more about it here if interested: http://www.hkngallery.org.uk/hkngallery.nsf/0ad8b7e3f00ae88480256b9600463ec8/5791a1737448781580256fae000c7b2b!OpenDocument

Forgot about a US Customs UH-60A. They do look pretty cool and are gloss black.

Apparently the Department of Homeland Security uses gloss black UH-60As too.

Ok, that will work. I'm making it for asomeone, who is a civilian pilot, so I'll go without the guns and everything.

Actually, If you're up for some minor conversion, US Customs Black Hawks are gloss black with gold trim:

http://www.customs.ustreas.gov/xp/CustomsToday/2002/October/other/helicop.xml

In fact, Minicraft released a 1/48 Customs Black Hawk. I see them at Hobby Lobby all the time.

They're not super gloss black, more like somewhere between gloss and semi-gloss
