1/35 AH-1W Super Cobra has arrived!!

Well, just got it in the door now.. Opened her up, and very happy indeed.. When I was doing research for it, I found out its dimentions ect, but am surprised as it seems bigger than I had imagined 39cm to be in length.. Just from putting the 2 body halves together, it appears that it will have a great fit... It is the re-boxed MRC kit from AFV Club Taiwan.. It also has an updated resin set for the front sensor and canon mountings....

I had also worried about the decals all being in Chinese, but the "danger", and "no step" decal markings on the Taiwanese Cobra's are all in english.. Its only the government markings that are in Chinese.. So I am happy that I will be able to use the main decals for my project! Got it from Hobby Link Japan for around Y3700 after tax nd shipping. And as I live in Japan, it took less than a week after order.. Only problem now is, I have only exclusively modelled 1/72 scale.. I am scared that I have opened up a can of worms to a future of 1/35 and 32 scales????

Lastly.. a poll.. How should I do it.. I am interested in what you guys would like to see.. Here is my list..
1) "What if " Australian Army AH-1W in Auscam camo scheme..
2) "What if " Australian Navy AH-1W in light grey scheme (similar to US Marines)
3) "Canon" US Marines AH-1W Light grey scheme..
4) "What if " J.G.S.D.F AH-1W .. To go with an existing Japanese 1/35 Iraq Humanitarian Assistance Vehicle and soldier figure set.. Japan does use Cobra's, but not the AH-1W...

Can't really help you on the color scheme. You have to go with what you most want to see, just be sure to share the photos with us.

I really enjoyed making my first of these kits (I have the -1T Gold Cobra in the stash too). It's a really good kit, the canopy was the only real fit issue I ran into, and that was after I had all the painting done and decals on... Good luck on your build.
A day in the Corps is like a day on the farm; every meal is a banquet, every paycheck a fortune, every formation a parade... The Marine Corps is a department of the Navy? Yeah...The Men's Department.

Thanks Jello.. I have spent all day detailing the cockpit.. I have had alot of fun, as in 1/72, you dont really get a chance to detail cockpits too much. So I am enjoying it! The canopy is the only thing I dont like about the new Super Cobra's.. I liked the look of the old boxy ones.. Anyhow, it has been fun so far!...

Very true GA.. But I did a very silly thing, and went and married one!.. A beautiful woman, that has given me a beautiful daughter!

As an update.. I spent the whole weekend detailing my cockpit, and putting it together.. It has now been painted and the canope has also been painted and added.. I did go with my Japanese JGSDF idea, and it is sitting proudly in JGSDF Camo.. The only decals it has on it thus far, is the Japanese red symbol on the tail..
