NSAWC Seahawks/US Army Hind & Hip

Thanks for the photo's. Hard to beleive the Hind pilot's with the most flight time now belong to the US Army and are stationed at Ft Polk

I hear that was a captured Iraqi piece from Gulf War1.

When I was at Polk for JRTC the word was the flyable Hind's in the army were "acquired" from Angola by Eustis' Flight Concepts Directorate. The Hind sitting under the CH-62 mockup at Rucker was a captured Iraqi model. The person telling me could of been wrong.

cool pictures, were you there at Dessert Rescue. I was there with HCS-4 we had a couple of H-60 Hotels and a Foxtrot. those Hinds were put to bed in our hanger (1 or 2 can't remember) every night. My Squadron HCS-5 just got back from Nellis were we did training with the SEALS. BTW our squadron borrowed one of NSAWC's H models Last year they keep the birds in real good condition.

Sure was. I have vivid memories of the UAV busting the NEO airspace like he was on a sight seeing trip. I also remember the Hind and the Hip taking down the A-10 driver's egos a bit. Survivor onboard....Jolly's egressing the area.....A-10's figured they would get a little air to air action....Uh oh...where did he go....surprise!
I had a few brewskies with you guys over at Mean Gene's one night after a CSAR go.

And I agree, the contract maintence folks really do a great job at Fallon. I think they were boeing, but might have been Sikorsky types.

that's cool you were there. The helo community is pretty small. Like I said before we just wrapped up a Det at Nellis one of our Foxtrots had to have an engine replaced. We recruited the folks over at the 66th rescue squadron. they gave us hanger space and couldn't belive the far out looking bird we pulled into the hanger. That foxtrot is older than most the AF guys in that hanger. well here are some pictures if anyone is interested.

most of those shots are of our birds in Iraq, the Hotel and Foxtrot were taken in So Cal. at an undisclosed location. on that det they flew day and night with only a few hours of down time at night.There were only 4 guys taking care of them. glad you liked the pics.

Really nice sites & pics! Just got to Fallon today and one of the guys from my shop pointed out the Desert Camo H-60. I told him that I was definately gonna need more film! LOL - Calvin

the Hind is one of the best birds put out by the Russians a cross between a MH-60 and a Cobra moves fast and hits hard when in the hands of a pro and I belive the Hind in the picture is of a D model the later models had different chin turrets and sensor arrays.
