Any MH-60L or G Varients?
Posted by Snacko on Friday, June 6, 2003 9:53 AM
Is anyone producing a good quality kit of the army's (not AF) SOAR Blackhawk, models L or G? I've seen a nice kit from Academy in 1/35, but it's for the AF G model. I guess the Academy kit could be modified, but I'd prefer something that is totally accurate OOTB.

Thanks,

Snacko,
Academy's 1/35th MH-60L has just hit the market. I got my copy last week and it looks terrific. They call it an AH-60L DAP (if you do a search, remember to look for AH ...not MH) but it is of course the MH-60L Defensive Armed Penetrator used by the 160th SOAR. It comes with 2.75 FFAR pods and Hellfire missles, as well as mini guns for the window gunners and M2 .50's for the doors. It looks like an excellent kit.

I guess the closest thing to the SOAR MH-60L will be the new AH-60 "DAP" version. Lot's of luck!

Clear Left!

Thanks for the heads-up. I just saw that kit, and it's not clear from the one picture I've see if this model if it includes the small, bulbous nose attachment (FLIR or radar perhaps) that the standard L varient has. Does the new Academy kit contain the parts/instructions on how to buld the strait L version w/o the DAP add-ons?

Thanks,

Snacko,
The kit does contain the radar and the FLIR. You can build it without the short ESSS and it's attached weapons for a standard MH-60L. It has everything I've ever noted that takes a UH-60L to an MH-60L ... missile warning systems, modernized chaff, flare system, updated instrument panel ... looks like it's got it all, straight from the box. Just leave off the short ESSS. If you want a MH-60L, you can do better than this.
Good luck,
Paul

Snacko,

I dunno if you have much material on SPECOPS Blackhawks, but I posted some photos to a thread in the aircraft forum that you may want to see. (Why it's still over in aircraft, I dunno...)

Anyhoo, I'm not a rotor head and some of my observations are probably all wrong, (Tongue [:P]) but the photos are there for you to interpret for yourself!
