I've heard there's a Trumpeter 1/35 Hook coming out sometime this year, but I haven't really seen or heard of a 1/48, which is something many, many of us here want badly...I need one to sit next to my -46 and -53!
A day in the Corps is like a day on the farm; every meal is a banquet, every paycheck a fortune, every formation a parade... The Marine Corps is a department of the Navy? Yeah...The Men's Department.

My dad found an old, old kit by Revell (this one comes with a jeep and a 105, I believe) and I just haven't gotten to it yet. I've run across a couple of other kits, RoG ones, here and there, so they are out there. Good hunting!

Mike,

Aurora made a 1/48 Chinook back in the 60's & 70's... it's typical Aurora (lacking much fine detail), but for the time being, the ONLY kit that exist in 1/48 scale. These days, about the only place to find one is on EBay, or another some such auction place. They generally go for $100 +, but as I said, that's the only game in town.

Rumor has it that MRC may produce a 48 "47" to go along with their Phrog, but nothing confirmed.... as of now, we're all waiting on Trumpeter.

Lemon... I use to have one of those Revell CH-53's, and still have the artillery piece in one of my spares boxes somewhere. Smile [:)]

Take care,
Frank

oldhooker, I'm seriously thinking of taking the 105 from my -53 kit and adding it to my AV-22 "Spooky"-type gunship.

I can only hope that MRC/Academy makes that hook to go with their Phrog, that would be sweet.

I just purchased a 48th scale CH-53 G/GS at my local hobby shop about 6 months ago, he ordered it from his distributor for me. It is a RoG kit and the nice thing is that it has the "update" parts to take it from a '60's - '70's era aircraft to a current use bird. Mine came with the composite blades and other bits which I intend to use on a MH-53J Pave Low conversion. It even had the 105 and M-38 jeep too. I see them advertised in Squadron's updates from time to time. As for the -47 the only one I have seen recently is a -47A/B model mixed media kit. I don't recal the manufacturer off hand but it is consistantly advertised in the pages of FSM. Hope this helps.

Good looking builds, what scale are they? First model I've seen in "Air America" markings. What part of Germany are you in?

Ya! I almost had a heart attack! gee a 1/32 scale Sky crane! oh well......too bad its the old kit.......We need a better Sky Crane!

That would be cool! and not impossible......there is not that much meat in a kit of that size.

Though.....that old Revell kit is not that bad.

The only 1/48 CH-47, other than the old Aurora kit, is a vac made by Combat Models, though I, too, have heard of a 1/48 mixed media kit, just don't exactly remember who, though I might hazard a guess at possibly Collect-Air.

I would consider losing a pinky finger for a 'Crane in that scale.....
