I'll throw my two cents in and back up what HeavyArty said. It's a great kit with the canopy issue the only one I ran into. I built mine OOB, but I've got a second kit that will become a Z model once there's some resin out there to make the changes.

Oh, yeah, be sure to share some photos of it when you're done.

MRC/Academy AH-1W is a great kit. Out of the box, it builds up into a pretty accurate Desert Storm bird. For an updated, current bird, Cobra Company makes an upgrade set for it to bring it up to NTS (Night Targeting System) standards which contains parts for fully modified cockpits, TSU and external mods. For more decal options, Two Bobs Aviation Decals has a Whiskeys in the Mix (AH-1W) decal sheet that has Desert Storm and current decal options.

Have fun building it. The only problem I have heard about it is that the opening canopies are a little short and don't fully meet the lower edge of the openings. I did not find this an issue since I built mine in the opened position.
