In 1/35, you could get the Panda UH-1N. That is about it for modern 1/35 USMC helos.

Panda UH-1N:

Comes with USN decals, would need to swap out with USMC decals, you could use some from the TwoBobs AH-1W sheet.

Here are a couple of current USMC UH-1Ns:

Cobra Company does a UH-1N ugrade set and a UH-1N Weapons set for the Panda kit as well.

I may be mistaken, but I think the "other" Panda 1/35 UH-1N has marine decals in it. (The USAF SF one)

It is not too good though...Smile [:)]

Is it that bad? I've got the Marine marked Panda UH-1N sitting on my shelf, and I keep hearing not too good things about it. It can't be worse than this Hobbycraft A-10 that I'm working on, can it? Still, as long as it looks like a Huey on my shelf, I'll go ahead and build it, maybe get some CobraCo resin bits to trick it out a little.

The Panda UH-1s aren't horribly, but not great either. They are upsized 1/48 models. As such, the rivets are huge for 1/35th, the panel lines are way too wide, interior is weak on details adn most of the interior parts are way too thick for scale. The Cobra Company set will definetely make it look much better. It still looks like a UH-1 once done though and the only one in true 1/35 scale. In my opinion, the older Revell 1/32 UH-1D/H model is much better in quality and detail. It can be converted into a UH-1N with some work. i did it, check my Showcase I to see it.

I believe Revell also did a 1/32nd scale HH-53 as well

On the workbench: Dragon 1/350 scale Ticonderoga class USS BunkerHill 1/720 scale Italeri USS Harry S. Truman 1/72 scale Encore Yak-6

The Revell H-53 was in 1/48th scale.

LemonJello,
Hobbycraft A-10? Would that be as bad as the AMT/Ertl A-10 I started on last night? Yeah, Panda has kind of taken the easy way out and molded the -1Ns along that route. Some thick and clunky detail. Definitely not comparable to anything in 1/35 by MRC if you want a comparison. But, it's a solid airframe to build onto, and I'm going to enjoy working on it and adding all the details it is missing. Cobra Company's Fleet Upgarde and Weapons sets will improve the kit 150%.
You want the CC update set....

Hmmm, for some reason, I want the CC update set...

Off Topic, but, AH1Wsnake, the Hobbycraft A-10 is lacking in a lot of ways, but that gave me the room to modify it to my "What-If?" A-10W for the group build...had to add all kinds of detail to the office, adding a TRAM-like pod for targeting and stuff like that. It really made me be inventive, but at the same time I didn't have to be a slave to "reality".

I've got a 1/48 UH-1N and I've ordered Chief Snake's update set, but I'm looking for decals. Would like to finish it in a 1980s gray/green/black scheme to go with my A-10M (See "What-If A-10 Group Build"). Anyone know of anything or am I SOL?

The only thing I can think of would be to use twobob's "Whiskeys in the Mix" in 1/48th, but I see that they have been sold out for awhile on their website. Matching up the color of the decals to the background paint would be tough, though, unless you made every area under a decal as a gray 'splotch.'
Hmmmmmm....I guess it's time for a set of USMC decals for Hueys in 1/35th and 1/48th!!!!
............with noseart options, anyone? Big Smile [:D]

Ditto. I know Bob hangs out over on ARC; does he ever participate on these boards?

I love that Nose art
Wouldn't a 1/35 53E be great?

It'd be a monster! I'd be perfectly happy with a new -53E in 1/48, not that I'd turn down the offer of a 1/35 -53 either...

I'm digging that nose art, too. How'd that get by the CO?
