I know when the were designing the AH-64, Hughes(later M-D now Boeing) dedicated one version(can't remember if it was the B or C model) as a navalized version for anti-shipping but the Navy didn't take it

I'll try to reply to several posts at once.
1) We don't carry HARMS but do have ARM - Sidearms. They weren't carried much tactically - I did one misison with it in GW I. Just another system to study. Fun to fire though.
2) It was only a few years ago that we decided two pull the 20mm gun pods out of the system. I've only used them once on a W and they were fun. Weight or black boxes not an issue for it but it stub wing loading could be an issue for heavier stuff. You seen the pictures of the Maverick trials on a W?"
3) We've practiced for and stood anti-ship missions. Especially when transiting through some of the pirate zones in the Pacific. The newer frag and blast Hellifres would work well.
3) The Marine UH-1E had the TAT-101? twin 60 turret on the nose. Never seen a later Huey with a turret.

Not too far off topic, but as far as fictional weapons and Hueys go.....
What type of variants had turrets mounted under their chin? I'm not talking about the Vietnam 40mm grenade launchers, either. It seems that I have seen one or two movies where a late-model Huey has had a turreted cannon of some sort mounted under the nose.......maybe it's just one of those Hollywood mock-ups........?

Weight and black boxes are the only hanger-up you would have

I'd love to see an AH-1W with 20mm gunpods mounted on each stubwing. Can you say "raining lead"? Tongue [:P]

Looks pretty fearsome! Nice job.

But it begs the question: What current (or imaginary) weapon systems that the Cobra (or Apache) does not use would be useful for the missions it currently performs? Or put another way, what additional missions could it perform with the addition of a new external store? Any opinions?

Regards,
Phil

"Howdy howdy howdy!" When it absolutely, positively has to be blown up real good, accept no substitutes!

I'm surprised Jon hasn't said anything; he's probably still salivating over the concept.

Before anyone says anything, I screwed up on the final weathering on this kit, so the Marine decals went by the wayside. This set is from a 1/72 P2V Neptune kit that I did a while back, The weapons are from a 1/32 Academy Hornet kit, and it looks really cool all together. My son enjoys it so much he confiscated it before it made it to my shelf. Hope you all enjoy the pics, and the possible what if is pretty cool.

enjoy
