Does anyone make a Medevac conversion kit for the UH-60A in any scale?

None that I know of. Scratch is the way you have to go, sorry. I may do the same thing, at some pint in the future.

thanks, that is what I was thinking anyway. It will make the project that much more challenging, that is for sure.

Ooops, I may have started a thread that really pertained to this one. Is the Medevac version of the UH-60 the UH-60Q?

Actually, there are a couple of UH-60 MedEvac setups. The most common is a standard UH-60A or L model with a 6 patient stacker across the cabin where the troop seats usually are. A couple seats for the Medics are on the back wall and the rest of the medical equipment is also in the back.

The newest MedEvac version is the UH-60Q. It is set up like a civilian MedEvac helo with racks for 6 patients along the side walls and all medical equipment integrated into the interior. It also has a FLIR turret mounted on the nose.

If I remember right it seems the cabin was about 2 or 3 inches to narrow to accept the standard litter across the cabin and they had to come up with putting them in lengthwise. I could be wrong about this, never did see any actual inside measurments on the UH-60. Could have been just a placement issue so the medics could do their thing in flight too which is probably more likely. A good resin "update" would be nice to convert a Black Hawk to a Medevac. Don't forget the HH-60L. That is just like a Q, but with the L model engine

The "standard" litter has been around since WWII and will fit inside a UH-60, it is just very tight, there is also an updated litter that has retracting handles so it is about 8 inches shorter. The Standard Medevac Bird that the Army is using right now is a UH-60 A with the HIRSS attached, so externally (other than the red crosses) there is no difference from the L model. Most of the Aircraft are configured to accept 4 litter patients and 4 ambulatory patients. Ours had 4 seats along the back wall and then 1 rear facing seat between the two crew seats. I will be working on getting some pics uploaded to show this configuration.

Has anyone heard from Mogwa lately? He's the Dustoff expert around here, crews a Q model last I heard.

There is no aftermarket resin for either UH-60A medevac birds or UH-60Q acft. The standard NATO litter will fit laterally in a UH-60 at the cargo doors as this is the widest part of the cabin due to the lack of cabin bulkheads there. As far as I know all U.S. Army medevac birds that are not Q models are A models. The main visual difference from an A to an L is that the main landing gear fairings are narrower on an A model due to the lack of vibration absorbers inside.
I flew for around 10 years on medevac A models at FTCKY and was part of the active army team that did the testing and verification type stuff for the Army with the UH-60Q. I also would also like to build a A or Q model medevac and for the time being it looks like scratch building is the way to go.

Thanks I forgot about the step farrings being wider on the L model.

I have all the information needed to make the medevac version of the UH-60. I intend to market that upgrade sometime this summer. The Q was only fielded in limited numbers, I believe there were a total of 4 built and they went to National Guard units. The supposed current designation of US Army medevac aircraft is HH-60L. The HH is a shared military designation between the US services to indicate a dedicated rescue mission aircraft. The advantages of the Q version seem not to have been worth the expenditure since nearly all of the mission equipment is becoming standardized between services for the UH-60 airframe. There also seemes to be little advantage to putting the litters further forward inside the cabin so the current carousel that is centerline mounted seems to be staying for now.

I have seen three HH-60Ls upclose when I was at Hood last year. They are an upgraded version of the Q. The ones I saw just came back from Iraq with the 507th Med Co. They were going through reset. They are very nice, but it will never replace the UH-1V in my eyes.

Ever think about doing an EH-60A kit? Probably wouldn't sell that well I guess. I've never bothered to study exactly what the differences are. Maybe just the antennas, in which case, scratch building would probably be just as easy. I've had the idea to do one for a while.
