I've figured out the hosting thing, but I'm still having trouble with getting the images large enough to show any detail. This SH-34J started life as a 1/72
Frog Westland Wessex MK?. An Airmodel Vac nose was grafted on and all the mesh areas cut out and replaced with brass screen. The "office" is a total scratchbuild as is the landing gear and rescue hoist. In the days before Eduard
et al we made do with all sorts of odd bits from Walther's model railroad catalog
and copious amounts of evergreen plastic strips. The cabin sliding doors/windows were vacuformed from used battery packaging. The underside is detailed with vacuformed ducting which was formed over Miliput masters.
The engine bay is decked out with HO scale pumps and pipes and strip styrene radiator fins. Even the wiper blades came from an HO train detailing package. HO lift rings are used for grab handles and steps. The New England Air Museum was kind enough to let me climb all over their LH-34D with camera and tape rule to get the detail information I needed. This kit was built in 1986. It's still one of my prized display pieces.
