Yeah, that's one I came up with...I was actually being cheap and used paint on hand instead of buying more. Also, it was an attempt to paint camo with an airbrush instead of by hand. It really was an experiment on many fronts.

I've got an old 1/48 -53 that may someday become a Pave Low, with help from some Cobra Company resin, but this was a good little kit for me.

Tango, here are a few photos of my Pave Low. It's a little dusty from sitting on the shelf, and it's not my best paint job (old, cheap-o airbrush) but it is one of the first I finished after getting back into the hobby. Well, here are the pics:

It's the 1/72 Italeri kit, OOB and there are probably all kinds of errors. It's had some rough handling between Okinawa and Camp Lejeune.

Smile [:)]Hi guys, here's a progress pic-don't laugh!Big Smile [:D]

The main problem has been the one piece transparancy for the nose, it was quite difficult for me to get it flush with the rest of the model, however I think I have got it right now. Other problems included the sponsons, Italieri give you locating tabs, but there's nowhere to locate them!Disapprove [V] so attaching them was a very hit and miss affair-in the end I cut the tabs off and just glued them on in the hope that they were in the correct position!Clown [:o)]
Anyway, enough of my waffling-take a look at my progress and tell me if you spot any glaring errorsBlush [:I]

Later,

Darren.

Guys, many thanks for your help-it is much appreciated! Thanks for link Philip, those pics were exactly what I was looking for. Now I know what it is supposed to look like! I don't think mine will turn out as nice though.

My main problems were the fit of the parts, I've had to use a lot of filler and sandpaper,I it's all part of the build process, I just thought the kit would be better than it was. Then again, maybe its me causing the problem!

I'll post some pics tommorrow to show you guys where I'm at with this one.

Thanks again for all your help,

Darren.

Really? I guess I never really bothered to check, I just slapped them on per the instructions. That's pretty funny, though. Oh, well, mine sits on a high shelf, so it's not that noticeable...

CAUTION!!:

The rotor is molded the WRONG WAY on the MH-53E!!

I don't know how they managed that, but they sure did!
(Would have thought they'd use the main rotor of the CH-53E...

however, like I said, the main rotor blades are moulded to go the wrong way.

I've got one that I built a couple years ago on the shelf, I'll see if I can get some pics of it tonight to post. I don't remember having too many issues with the build. Painting was another story, and my masking wasn't as good as it should have been. Still, I keep it as a gauge of my skills (improving or degrading, I won't mention). I'll see if I can get those taken and posted, though.

Darren,
I recently received the HH-53C kit from Italeri for review for IPMS. All I have done so far is a test fit of the body but it looks pretty good. I have seen several of these kits finished and have not heard of anyone having problems (but maybe they just didn't write about them). Do you have any in progress pics to show where your issues are. Then at least I can look to avoid them Big Smile [:D].

Here is someones that is done. Not much build info however.

Smile [:)]Hi folks,
in case you are wondering, no I'm not lost-I am building a helicopter!Blush [:I]
I bought the Italieri MH-53 some years ago and recently decided to build it, however I am having no end of problems and I wanted to know if anyone had gaping holes between seams etc, etc. I put the fuselage together and sprayed some paint on tonight and it's starting to come together now, but I'm starting to feel that this one won't be worth all the effort-hence my question, any of you ever build this kit?
I would dearly like to see a pic of a finished one, it would give me something to aim forWink [;)]

Any info. at all would be greatefully recieved,

Thanks,

Darren.
