Realistic Drooping rotors- how to?
Posted by blkhwkmatt on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 4:12 PM
Does anyone here know of a method to realistically droop the rotors on a helo. I am working on 2 blackhawks and want to have the rotors droop and if possible have the twist to them as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Try getting a basin full of hot water (not hot enough to make your hands uncomfortable), then take your blades under the water and gently bend them a few degrees. The warm water should soften them up enough to make the blades pliable. I have also heard of running a warm hairdryer over the plastic to make it bendable (keep it at a distance so they don't melt!). As always, be careful not to break the blade, and don't give it too much droop! That's hard to fix. Just do a little bit at first, and if you decide that it needs more, you can always go back and do it again.

AH1WSnake - thanks for the tips I think that i'll try the hot water one first as it seems the more conservative method. I was thinking about making a jig of sorts to hold the blade in to get the right twist and droop, and that would work with the water method fairly well.
