Well, with the exception of the CC instructions, I haven't seen pix of those "new" planks either. Of course, you don't see as many Nightstalker (D'oh! there I go saying it again!) pix online as you do Viper, Bug and Eagle shots so... Maybe Chief Snake can give us the backstory on the new planks.

My money's on one of Gino's suggestions.

Who dares disturb my sleep?!?Big Smile [:D]
Sorry guys seems I mised this one.

I agree with Trigger and HeavyArty the kit is well done, it is overall correct and has only some gaps that can be filled with putty or styrene.

Regarding planks: of all the pics I've seen no MELB has the planks that Cobra Co. makes. Confused [%-)]

Yes. They are basically the same aircraft. The outer portion of the plank that runs through the rear cabin is swapped out between the AH and the MH. There are other black box differences in the rear as well and addition or deletion of FLIR gear, either can use it. But they are pretty interchangable. That is one reason the 160th SOAR likes them so much, reliability and flexability.

As far as the DML kit goes, I thought it was a pretty good build (I've built two in the past couple of weeks and still have an OH-6 to go). I concur with Grant on the windshield fit. I painted the bubble separately, then glued it to the fuselage near the rotor and let it dry overnight, then finished securing it to the opening a little at a time, using small copper alligator clips to hold the canopy and frame together.

No idea. Maybe they are easier to fold up or just because they are lighter. Could just be that the contractor marketed them well. No solid clue though.

Don't know of any reviews, but here is Avus' article from ARS site.

It is a great kit with few problems, the ones mentioned above by Grant. No real issues with it.

Good luck.

You came to the right place. HeavyArty and Avus have built beautiful Nightstalker (uh-oh!!! I said - the name Big Smile [:D])Little Birds and I've got three of them going on... what would you like to know?

Overall - fit's decent. I had to fiddle with the interior when I attached the two fuselage halves and there's a gap where the rotor assemble will go. Nothing a sheet of styrene can't fix. Test fittings indicate I may have a slight gap when the windsheild's installed, but nothing that can't be fixed with some strip styrene.
