Ok, I'm wondering if there is an update set for this kit anywhere?
Miniguns, rocket pods and a nice interior would be great. Is that too much to hope for?

Thanks,

Jon

Cobra sir

Is this not a big a- - heli kit or what. I have done this kit 3 times over the past 15 years and have found no add on or replace detail sets, but this kit has
so much stuff to mess with. For one the engine / trany section can be cut open.
I added a bunch of cable ,wires,s/s braided lines, steel piping ect... The eng. plating is a killer color for realisam .The inter.yells for all kinds of home brewed
add ons.Levers(pins), toggle switches,throtles,seat belts (ribon),ect....
I also cut the doors open on both sides to show off the good stuff. The nose hides
a bunch of the kits electronics. I cut ,and hinged the noseand added the wiring,
and pedel linkage, along with hydrolic piping and hose.
I had a good time every time I did this kit,and I'm sittin here looken at another one.O boy here we go!
I think you will have no problem spicen that big bad boy.Good luck

You guys are right... that is one great kit! It really would be nice if there were some add-ons available, but it's so big and easy to work with that almost everything could be hand-made (any "car guys" care to try your hand at a helicopter??). I regret not getting the clear version way back when, but when the Rambo re-issue came out I bought several... they couldn't get rid of them and they went for maybe $5 each, or something. The bad part was that they didn't have any decent decals in the kit. Later on, the "Tour of Duty" re-issue came out, and at least it had "normal" decals. Does anyone make a set of aftermarket decals for them now? The other alternative might be dry transfers.

Wow, for a second there I forgot about this post!
The local Hobby Lobby has a bunch of em for sale. I may just pick one up! Hell, I've been working on a 1:18th UH-1C from 21st Century Toys as a side project. Just spicing it up a bit...

However, I just found the ultimate model kit and I'm dying to get it....
Well, its not really a model. I just came across a UH-1A in need of a ground up restoration for a reasonable price... I may just have to do it!

Are you talking about a scale UH-1A or a 1/1? I also have the 1/24 scale huey, and I am a car guy, and a chopper lover as well. I've been wondering, the ribbing in the kit is a interesting and realistiv detail, but these ships had those ribs covered. How do I replicate that? The decals in the current version seem nice. Any opinions on them? I just don't know where the heck I'm going to put this bad boy when I'm done with it.
By the way, isn't this kit actually a UH-1B Huey?

Midnight,

No, I switched topics in mid post there. I'm talking the real deal. UH-1A 60-3535
She's in ROUGH shape right now, but looks restorable. Won't know for certain until the end of May when I can get back to NY.

COOL. Sure would like to see photos of that baby. Ive never met anyont that could do, or even afford to do a real aircraft restoration. By the way, isn't the kit actually a bravo model, and not a charlie?

Midnight,

Afford it? LOL, yeah, that's a good one. Nah, I'm hoping to just get it and start slow... we'll see. As for the kit, I think you're right.

Out of curiosity, how much does something like that cost? The restorable UH-1A that is?

Wow. Lotsa bucks. Could you get a photo of her as she is now? Do you have any ideas on how to do the sound deadener for the ceiling on the big Huey kit? Do you have any photos of your chopper models?
