Johan,

From what I've heard, its a fantastic kit. Come on over to the Helicopter forum here and I'm sure you can get a much better review on it!

Great kit. I highly recommend it. If you can get it cheap, I would. I have one, haven't built it yet, but it looks great. Here's a review: http://www.internetmodeler.com/2004/february/first-looks/tru_mi-24v.php

Check out Avus' build up as well.

Wow been quoted once more! (Thanks Gino!Bow [bow])

If you get a cheap one you could affor some aftermarket kits, either from Cobra Company (resin) or from Part (photoetched). Check here for some details.
I made mine OOB, since I wanted to relax a bit after making my MELB wich involved a lot of scratch building.

CC chaff dispenser is nice. It is in the Exterior detail set, Chris will sell it separetely though, I got just it. The rest of the CC upgrade stuff didn't really look that much different to me than the kit stuff. The details that should be in the rear area (ribs on walls, added boxes, hose and piping details, etc.) can be scratched up pretty easily.

Here are some referances.

That should be all you need. Good luck. Hope to start mine soon, still pretty far down in the pile though.

(corrected) you'll have to click the links to walkarounds and links - they lead you to a lot of great resources on this beauty:

Thx, great links and tips Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]
Interesting to see how "Bright blueish Green" can be either Blue or Green...
First 2 links bellow are chaf dispensers (I think), 2 different shapes but both easy enough to scratch.

Hey dude. I have one those Trump Hinds and it is a great kit.
I have one of the Trump Mi-8/17 Hip's as well. It has no weapons so I scrached builted the bomb racks and used some of the Hinds leftover weapons sence it's plenty left to choose from. I highly recomend getting one of each.
They look great when displayed together!!!Wink [;)]

Correction, the first pick seems to be the Flare dispenser and the second the Chaff...
The mounting brackets look identical less the fairing though, can anyone verify?

And yes marke dude, so far the Hind has been sheer pleasure and if the build continues like this I'll go with your recommendation.
This is my first ever Trumpeter and so far I am impressed.

JohanT,
I believe this pic is of a Chaff/Flare combo launcher.

This looks like the single chaff or flare launcher on a three-pack mountable rail, minus the faring. (Looks like the other two fittings are above and below it.)

The Cobra Company launcher is the three row in the fairing, and very nice. I recommend getting it.

Thank you Gino.
I have ordered the Cobra item and started on the Engines. Will build the engines OOB for starters and work with as many shades of silvery metal and aluminium I can on the details and burnt iron on the jet housing.
The J sprues will be the next stop and by then I hope I have decided on bluish green or greenish blue for the drivers and gunners compartments :)
Really god reference material, thanks again everyone.
BTW, have you started on yours Gino?

No, not yet. Currently finishing up 4 HMMVWs on commission. Not sure what I will do once they are done, I have a big stash to choose from. We shall see.

The kit got stuck in customs while I was travelling in 2005.
It was in a big box with a compressor, paint, fillers and other stuff, I should have been more forthcoming to the authorities, bad on me.

Never thought I would see it again but it has materialized :)
So 2 quick support questions:
The gunners sight - where can I get it?
Is there a AM replacement for the gun?

Very Best Regards
Johan

I looked at the few pics that I have from a Czech Republic Hind that I took in Afghanistan but I don't see any launchers on it, they may have taken them off to save weight.
