Sir you sre not going to believe this. Those darn Perry county rednecks were trying to steal the tires off of one of our birds but the MP's showed up before they could finish the job.

It looks like the south end of the airfield.  That is the only portion where all of the pads were concrete in '04.  I have heard that they extended the ramp to the north.  Maybe they got smart and poured concrete for parking instead of laying asphalt pads.

According to my conversation with said CW4, the only damage to the bird was the crushed outer left pylon.  Believe it or not, the rotor blades were fine as was the transmission.

Hey Jon,

I used those pads that those -64's are on and we had tiedowns.  I think a shamal just caught them with their pants down.  We didn't use tie downs unless winds were forecasted in excess of 30 kts

Hey all, I just got some new information on this photo.  I spent about fifteen minutes with the 501st's Maintenance Chief today and asked him about this incident.  Apparently, at Udairi, there were no tie-downs on that end of the airfield.  The airfield got hit by a really strong windshear and it hit this bird.  Didn't touch the two on either side of it, but this one tipped over.

Also, my apologies to the Steel Hunters of C/1-501, I misidentified this as a Taz Devils aircraft, but the Taz Devils were from the 1st Aviation, not the 501st Aviation, (the 1st Infantry Division's Apache battalion, not the 1st Armored Division's 501st.)
