Phil,

Thanks for your response, review, and the photos...Looks like your doing a hell of a job with yours....I was thinking I'd build my seahawk for the Spanish Navy using Aztec Decals....in 1/48.

Keep up the nice work!

I just finished one of these built up as an HH-60H using a Cobra Company conversion set. It's the only choice in 1/48 scale, as far as I am aware. As far as the kit itself, it's pretty much what you expect from Italeri. It looks pretty good, fit is just OK, I had some problems with the cockpit glass. Lots of trimming and test fitting to get all the clear parts to fit properly. If you willing to put some time into it it turns out looking good. Cockpit detail is a little sparse, but the cabin interior (sono launcher and SO console) looks pretty good. Italeri molds some droop in the rotor blades, which I think looks good. The landing gear is a little too tall. The Cobra Company sets are expensive, but add a lot if you want more detail, particularly for the cockpit and rotorhead.

I posted some in-progress comments in the Attack Helo Group Build thread, and I have an album of pictures if you are interested.

Let me know if you have any more specific questions.

I agree with PAR, the kit is ok especialy for the price you can do a low budget conversion to a SH-60F model. all you have to do is lose the MAD bird and pylon, cover the sono bouy launcher, and build up the left side extended pylon mount. also the Italeri's folding rotor head does not fold like the real bird. that can be fixed pretty easy.

Haven't built it myself, heard it is OK. Cobra Company does a few update/conversion sets in 1/48 for Seahawks.

Eduard does a couple of PE sets as well, listed at bottom of Squadron page.

Here is a build review of the kit:

Fellow helo builders,

What do you think of Italeri's 1/48 UH-60 Seahawk? Is it a good kit and if not are there any other alternatives in 1/48 for building a seahawk? I've had a lot of problems with Italeri in the past so please be as critical or as positive as you are able.

Here's a link to the kit sold at squadron.com
