USAF - Aerial Gunners video clip
Posted by oldhooker on Friday, May 6, 2005 10:06 AM
Goodmorning,

Here's a link to one of my video files which showcases several USAF Gun applications, including the CH-53, AC-130, and Pave Hawk. I especially like the footage near the beginning of the video, which shows the Ramp Gunner on a CH-53 firing his .50cal while flying low level over the trees, and the cabin shots of an AC-130 during operations! Thumbs Up [tup]

It's 5+ megabites, but WELL worth the download.

Enjoy,
Take care,
Frank

You're right! Well worth the download! I loved that vid. My father was on AC-130 gunships in the 'Nam as a navigator. He left just after they got the U model wth the 105 on the back; I think he got to go up in one a couple of times before his tour was up.

Motivation, oh yes, that's what it's all about man! Smile [:)]

Anyone who's ever got to see "Spooky" work, will not likely ever forget it! It's as if the ground just starts boiling around the target, especially if there's two or three aircraft working the attack pattern.

"On target, on target, on target!"
Glad you all liked it...
Take care,
Frank

Very cool video. Can you imagine how many B-17's and B-24's would have completed their missions if the waist gunners had those mini guns?

The Liberators and Fortresses would be so loaded with ammo, there would be no room on the plane for bombs. Smile [:)]

Nice video Frank, thanks for sharing!

Nice use of the "Air Force One" score, but what can anyone tell me what was up with that techno riff at the end? I suddenly have the urge to go clubbing. What'd I do with my water bottle and glo-sticks?

Don't know... I guess they were appealing to the skate-boarders who might be thinking of joining.. Question [?]

Take care, Smile [:)]

Forget the techono score...more bass (i.e. 105mm and 40 mm recoil) as well as minigun burps! Can't forget the boom of the .50 cal either! Errrrr....Big Smile [:D]

I'm with you, Carl (congrats on that 4th star, BTW)... the ratty-tat-tat of those weapons is about as dramatic as it comes!!

Thanks Troy, it's an inspiring video clip fer sure! Smile [:)]

Thanks Frank! I always loved the sound of "talking guns" (you machine gunners no what I'm talking about), always a good way to get the heart going.

Nice clip. The CH-53 is actually a MH-53J or MH-53M depending on when the footage was shot.
