Chinook composite rotorblades question
Posted by albymoore on Monday, May 9, 2005 3:54 PM
Gents,
I read that the Chinook now sports composite rotorblades (or has for a while now). How different in shape are these blades from the older type, and can the blades in the Italeri/Airfix Chinook kits be modified into a reasonable facsimile? I have another MH-47E in progress that needs the updated blades.

Thanks as always.

Cheers, Clown [:o)]

Hi Albert, Smile [:)]

The MH-47E has a Fiberglass/Nomex Composite blade... information on the specifics of this, and other components specific to this model may be found on Mark Morgan's site: (as well as many great walkaround type photos)

Hope this helps a little. Smile [:)]

Take care,
Frank

Thanks Frank, I appreciate the help. I was told that the Matchbox Chinook blades are a good representation of the composite blades (they have the 45 degree taper at the root and the correct chord). Now I just have to track one down. Smile [:)]
