Mark,

Unfortunately, I have been concentrating all my time on trying to get the Titanic dio finished! Dead [xx(] About to drive me bananas!!Clown [:o)] Our youngest daughter graduated this past weekend, and it was supposed to be finished to give to her for that occasion, but there was no way.

Yes, a good supply of sheet styrene is almost mandatory for a project like the 1/48 Chinook!!! The resin parts from the vac kit sounds like the way to go... I have a feeling you're going to do it up proud! Smile [:)] ~ (sounds like Randie & Troy are in need of some medications too, doesn't it?) Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D] Wink [;)] Tongue [:P] Approve [^]

btw: Congrats on your 4th Star there Randie!! Smile [:)]

Take care,
Frank

Hi Frank.
I've been tinkering with it off and on for the past few weeks.
The cockpit is what I've been working on mostly.
I want to start on the cargo section but I'm out of sheet styrean so, I'm ordering more soon. II'm using the resin engines and rotor heads from that vac form kit I have.
They work perfict. Have you started on that Super Jolly yet??? Can't wait to see to see it finished.

Hey Marke,

You just keep on posting, meds or no meds, as it always spawns me into another search! Wink [;)] Have you began doctoring the Aurora Chinook back yet? Looking forward to seeing it, and there's plenty enough to keep you occupied until the biggy shows up. In fact, the Trumpeter will probably seem like childs play after the Aurora!! Big Smile [:D]

Take care buddy, and thanks for keeping us on our toes! Wink [;)] Smile [:)]

Papa-Echo-64,
I was refraining, yet chomping at the bit to respond to this one all day. I was restraining myself, but you took the first stab. It is only May, time will come. Hopefully it will be on time. Wouldn't be the first time a model doesn't appear when announced though.

Right you are Willy... Smile [:)]... it is one of only two duelys that still exist....

... the other being #60-03451, at the Army Aviation Museum at Mother Rucker. #451 was the 10th production model off the line, and once thought to be the oldest intact airframe...

But, the oldest existing Chinook is now known to be YCH-47A #59-4984 (3rd of the "Y" Models.), which is currently in line to be restored at Ft. Eustis, Virginia. Being a test aircraft, it was the first Chinook fitted with the single aft wheels and fuselage strakes in 1964.

These old girls go waaaaaay back.

Take care,
Frank

Fellow Hook Fans,

That picture from Trumpeter is of Chinook #61-02408, which is currently located at the California National Guard Aviation Museum near San Luis Obispo, CA. It's one of the last remaining examples of a dual tail wheel "A" model.

So.... what are the chances that Trumpeter will be producing their 1/35 with "duallies"?

Yup, had a big time. The wife's home town is just right of center in the
middle of NOwhere China. Nothing but rice paddies and a staggering
number of people with black hair!
I'll try to give Trumpeter a call tomorrow, or at least this week and
get the update on the Chinook.

Thanks!
Kyle

Pretty cool huh?

I know I shouldn't, but I'm getting excited for this kit to hit the shelves. It may be the one that makes me break my self-imposed ban on new kit purchases. And it would be worth it!

Thumbs Up [tup]Big Smile [:D]WOO HOOOOOBig Smile [:D]Thumbs Up [tup]

About time we started seeing something from them, aye? You'd have thought they could have dug up a better picture of an "A" model than that though, wouldn't you? But it's not the picture that matters.Wink [;)]Evil [}:)]Tongue [:P]Big Smile [:D]

Hey Troy... long see no time!! Smile [:)] Yes, the fuselage is somewhere in the neighborhood of 18" or 19".... I figured it was almost as long as the 1/570th Titanic.... hang the blades on it, and it'll be closing in on 3ft! [:0] LOTS of room for detailing in that much space, yikes!! Blindfold [X-)]

Thanks for the heads-up, James! With as many people as we have posted on watch for this thing, it won't surprise us when she calls Approach Control, inbound! Wink [;)]

Take care,
Frank

The Trumpeter 1/35 CH-47A "Chinook", Kit# 5104, is starting to
show up as a pre-order. Models

No price posted yet but Great Models has the following pic up:

Don't think it's the box art, just a pic supplied by Trumpeter.

How big a kit is this going to be?
