I think I've had that one about a decade ago, wasn't in Tigermeet dress ?

There can't be that many people in the States that even know what a Puma is, (aside from a big cat) never mind what one looks like. So good luck with your search, John.

Knight667, Some time ago, someone on this forum was building a Puma into a 'Hind' as seen in the film 'Red Dawn'. Am I right that this is what you intend to do? You could try a search under Hind, that might find him if it would help you.

I'm not big on kitbashing or scratchbuilding (I don't have the patience or the skill...yet) so if I could find a kit, that would be ideal. Guess I'll keep my eyes open. Big Smile [:D]

Or are you referring to the Revell (former Matchbox-moulds) 1:32 Bundesgrenzschutz-Puma?

Hello Gertjan,

I will look for the article in "Modellfan".

Are you absolutely sure, Andreas? As I happen to have a Heller 1:48 Bundesgrenzschutz-version of the Puma. I just cannot imagine that I have overlooked this Revell kit!!!????? When was this kit released? I cannot find it in my Revell-catalogues, and they go back to 1988.

Please help me out!
Best regards, Gertjan

Hello albertsponson,

sorry, but you are wrong. Revell had a 1/1444 Puma and a 1/48 Puma "Bundesgrenzschutz". There was an article in our german journey "Modell-Fan".
But it´s now not in the Revell/germany - programm

Okay, I stand corrected, the name Heller was nagging away somewhere in what passes for my brain. Yes, there was a 1/50th Heller Puma. I can't comment on it's accuracy, though I wouldn't expect too much, it must be 30 years old. If you simply must have one though, try kitkrazy.com, an English company that specialises in old models. They are showing one for sale at GBP10, (around USD 18 I think) I've used them before & had good service. The Revell Puma is 1/144 scale, so far as I can discover.

Actually, there has been a 1:48 Puma, by Heller of France, first released in the ' 70's. It had few detail and the scale may not be right (it has also been released as a 1:50-kit).
It has been re-released for maybe three or four times (I had a demo ship, an RAF-version and a Bundesgrenzschutz- version), but I haven't seen it around for maybe ten years. The last one I found was at LHS in the Netherlands.

Good luck!

John,
This question recurs every so often. The only reply is, there isn't one.
You can have the Airfix SA 330 Puma in 1/72nd. I built this kit again recently, it's been updated with 'PIP' intakes & new decals (33 or 230 sqn). The fuselage has too many rivets showing, and some details are missing or slightly wrong, but the basic idea is there. Once corrected & detailed, the guy I built it for was delighted.
If you can find one, there was the Matchbox Puma in 1/32nd scale. Again, a product of the '70's & basic in places (No 'PIP' intakes) but can be built into a good model.
My criticism's are based on the fact that I worked on Puma's in the RAF, mind you, that was 25 years ago! AARRGGHH! where did the time go to?
All the best
