Beast from the East #2 inside the Hind
Posted by upnorth on Friday, May 13, 2005 6:16 AM
Here's a few cockpit shots of the Czech Hind from Beast from the East #1:

Here's the main instrument console in the pilot's pit

Straight out the pilot's front window

Gunner's position from through the front window

Interesting trivia:
The stenciling on the outside of the Hind is in Czech while the information placards in the cockpit are in Russian.

That color is very "dental." Or the tile in my grandparent's bathroom.

If you read the book, "MIG Pilot" about the Russian Defector Victor Belenko, he explains that the russians did a study and found that color to soothing and relaxing.

Yep, a real dream come true.

If someone had told me 5 or 10 years ago that I'd have the chance to crawl around in a Hind, I'd be calling the local mental hospital to come take them away.

Its not an LCD screen Johan, I think its a moving map dispay of some sort. Whatever it is, it certainly isn't the most modern of equipment by the look of it.

Upnorth - thanx fer the interior pix. Yeah, that cockpit color is bit too institutional (as in mental) for my tastes. But I don't have to live in it :0) -> oh wait....maybe I do.

Also hoping to have my trumeter kit shortly from HK so I can do the Hungarian Eagle scheme. (see sentence above)
3d modelling is an option a true mental excercise in frusrtation
