HH-60H crash pictures
Posted by Firehawk Ordie on Monday, June 13, 2005 1:18 AM
Here are some before and after pics from a Hotel that crashed in Iraq durring the opening days of the war. Soon after delivering Special Ops troops, this bird crashed in brown out conditions at a FARP. The crew walked away from this wreck. About 18 months later the aircraft made it's first flight after being repaired by Sikorsky. They used new parts and also a tail boom from a Foxtrot and a tail rotor pylon from a Bravo. The helo was transported back CONUS on a C-5 or C-17.

Wow, It's amazing the time and expense they go to in order to save an airframe. I'm sure it costs a little less than a whole new bird. Great pictures, thanks for posting them.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The 60 is built like a brick s**thouse.

Make that a concrete reinforced s**thouse.
