Need help and references on Seaknight
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, July 15, 2005 11:21 PM
I friend of mine just gave a 1/72 seaknight in a plastic bag. No decals, no instructions, etc. I really don't build that many helos although I have some of them in my stash, so I want to give it a try to this unexpected presence.

Could anybody out there give some hints regarding interior colors and camouflage patterns and markings?

Thank you

Depands on when you want to model it from. CH-46 Sea Knight has been around since the mid-1960s and has seen many, many different color schemes and is used by multiple different nations. Here is a link to a bunch (over 2,400) images in all sorts of colors and markings.

Some interior pics as well. For interior colors, cabin is shades of medium grey with either red or green webbing as seats. Cockpit is grey as well on early versions, with black details such as gauges and instruments. Later (late '70s to early '80s), when night vision goggles came into use, cockpits were painted all flat black so they did not interfere with the goggles.

Here are a couple great models of modern CH-46s done by Joe "Mother" Szczygiel:

Hope that helps and gives you some ideas.

This site doesn't have much in the line of camo shots but, for detail, it's pretty good. Hope it helps.

Gentkemen,

Thank your comments and the links, the pictures are great. No back to my model, do you know a good match for the interior grey showed in the pictures? I mean FS # or catalog number and brand? I do prefer Gunze paints. Finally do you know if there is any AM decal for this subject and where I can get it?

Thank you again.
