On August 12, VMX-22 launched 16 Ospreys in a single formation flight at MCAS New River. Wish I could have seen and heard that!

Thought this was timely with the Osprey and tilt-rotor variant builds going on...Thumbs Up [tup]

Excellent! That must have been quite a sight. And I wonder what that sounded like. They fly around Pax in ones and twos and they're not quiet aircraft.

Thanks!

After 20 years, I was beginning to think I would never see an image like that.

Thanks for sharing that with us!

In all actuality, they have been working of this(in one form or another) since the 50's, glad to see them actually fly in numbers

The base paper had a front page article on this flight, I wanted to post something about it, and I didn't even think to see if the USMC webpage had anything! (This has been a rough week at the shop, to put it mildly)

Great shots, AH1Wsnake! I wonder how I could have missed seeing the flight, they're always buzzing around the area.
A day in the Corps is like a day on the farm; every meal is a banquet, every paycheck a fortune, every formation a parade... The Marine Corps is a department of the Navy? Yeah...The Men's Department.

I miss New River. Props to VMX-22. I understand that HMM's 263 and 162 are either going to be the first fleet squadrons to get Ospreys or the squadrons are getting retired.
