AH-64 Walkaround

Just a heads up, guys. I've just gotten my letter of appointment from Squadron to do a Walkaround book on the Apache. I'm gathering photos now (have about 120 and need about 100 more) and should have it done within the next two months. Should be released in early 2006 if all goes well.

I will be watching for it, let us know when it will be out. Going to cover both A and D models?

Sounds like it will be top-notch. We definitely know there's an authority working on it!

Granddad,

Yep, both models will be covered. I'm trying to get a lot more detailed in the photos this time around.

Thanks Snake!

Very cool! We've needed an updated book on the Apache for sometime (the In-action book is really dated). Look forward to it, Jon!

Close, Mitsubishi. Although Fuji did bid on the contract to license build 'em. The Fuji design was rejected because it failed to take down Mothra as part of the eval. The Japanese government figured if it couldn't kill a simple moth, then it would stand no chance against a PO'ed iguana.

Andy -
The third station on the Mitsubishi AH-64J is perfectly normal. And what you are unable to see, are the 30mm fixed forwrd-firing cannon on either side of the cockpit. That's what got Mitsubishi the contract.

Hey guys,

Sorry, my internet's been spotty since I'm down at FIG full time now. Trigger's been keeping me informed via phone.

As to those pesky Japanese Apaches, well... I don't think I'll be able to get overseas to photograph them Wink [;)] I may have some info on the Brit birds though. There's a great photo of a WAH-64D in this month's Air Forces Monthly magazine. The bird is INVERTED, popping flares. Fantastic shot.

David,

I've actually got quite a bit on the Vipers and know a few of their pilots. What exactly are you looking for? Their C Company shares callsigns with my company (B/1-104th ATK), so its always nice to associate with fellow Outcasts.
