A week ago tomorrow the helo I mentioned above went down in the Laguna Madre off the coast, killing the pilot, flight nurse and flight medic. We had the medics funeral today with about a hundred fire, ems and peace officer vehicles involved. God rest your souls, good men.

I'll never turn down a helicopter ride, that's for sure. The last ride I got before todays was while with my Volunteer Fire Dept. (Today I got paid for it at my professional FD job ) That time I went up in a UH1-D about two years ago.
Wish these opportunities came up more often.

Take care, everybody. -60

Yeah, the local LifeGuard folks here in Anchorage fly single pilot with their BK117.

Sounds fun. Piloting one of those local medevac birds would be a dream job...

I got two rides for no charge today. At my fire dept. the Care Flight guys came and refreshed us on setting up LZ's and then took us up three at a time.
I snuck in a second ride when the last trip only had one pax (passenger).
I am unsure about the make of the Chopper. It's a French helo, fitting a pilot and 3 pax only. It is modified for the stretcher to be on the left side, so if originally it had a copilot position, I don't know.
Sure was fun and brought back some good memories.
