Yes, Im still alive!

Hey guys.. Chris here in Japan!.. Been away awhile as I have had a few problems lately.. I have also been working to build models for clients and auctions here in Japan, and am a little burnt out from modeling.. So much so, that I have only just taken down from the shelf the 1/32 Hornet that I wanted to build for myself.. It has sat for 8 months..
I have posted the same thread in the subjects I visit the most, so forgive the over posting..

Anyways, next week, I am moving to Darien GA for 3 months with work, and am interested in knowing if any ya'll live in that area? I guess Jacksonville to Savannah and Brunswich Darien in between? Would love to get to chat with other members while I am over there!... I used to live in Atlanta (Vinings) and will try to get up there anytime I get a chance..

Anyways, sorry that I have kept in contact with anyone, and I hope to talk to you all a little more regularly!

Hey man!
I'm from Brunswick, and my family has 22 acres of land in Darien!
What'll you be doing....shrimping?Wink [;)] (Big shrimping fleet in Darien)
Nooooo hobby shops anywhere near there...maybe something in Savannah. Maybe.

Of course I'm still in Japan, bit if you have any Coastal Georgia questions, lemme know!

And how has Typhoon #14 been treating you today? Get much of it in Fukuoka?

As of July '03, when I left Ft Stewart (just 40m. south of Savannah, in Hinesville) there was only Bull Street Station, a train shop, in Savannah. There was a descent one in Hinesville though, called Big Top Hobbies. I am told it is still there. Shop owner is a vet and a pretty good guy. He will talk your ear off if you let him though.

Here is the address and phone #:
BIG TOP HOBBY SHOP
WINN DIXIE SHOPPING CENTER, HINESVILLE, GA 31310
Phone: (912) 368-4321

Other than that, nothing else between Atlanta and Jacksonvill, FL. Pretty poor area for hobby shops.

Good luck and have fun in GA.

A long time ago (like almost 10 years!) there was a decent little hobby shop near Kings Bay Sub Base in St Marys, GA. They had a good collection of kits, mostly cars, but there were military and sci Fi, too. It may have closed since then. If you're willing to drive to Orange Park, FL (south side of Jax) there was a good LHS there as well...can't remember the name of it now, of course.
A day in the Corps is like a day on the farm; every meal is a banquet, every paycheck a fortune, every formation a parade... The Marine Corps is a department of the Navy? Yeah...The Men's Department.

I think it's called Hobby Town, or something similar. "Hobby" is definitely in the name!
I stopped by there the last time I was home (April), and it's a pretty good shop.
From Darien take I-95 south to I-295, then down to Blanding Blvd. (take a right). Go down Blanding Blvd., and it's a couple of blocks past Orange Park Mall, on the left.

Never heard of the one in Kings Bay, although I've been there many times.

As Gino mentioned, Southeast Georgia is a pretty poor area for hobby shops!

That's one reason I moved to Japan...Wink [;)]

Ain't that the truth!
Plenty of beautiful scenery down that way, so I'm sure you'll be fine!
