Any one know where I can find a model kit for a MH/53j Pavelow lll ? or some thing similar? I heard Italieri made one in 1/72 ,as well as Revell in a 1/48?

any help on who might still make it or sell it?

Italeri did do one in 1/72, it is currently out of production though. Revell does a 1/48 CH 53C/D model and Cobra Company has a conversion set to make it a MH-53J PaveLow III. Cutting Edge Modelworks also has a MH-53J weapons set and cockpit set to go along with the CC conversion set.

Hey Heavy,
You mentioned Cobra Co, I checked a few places including Meteor Prod and they seem to be out of business.
Also with the release of the CH-53 SG/G in 48th by R/G, I take it that its a reissue?? In all how is the kit. I saw it at my LHS fer about $30 USD and it started the ol brain a turning.
BTW my LHS has a few of Italeri MH-53s still in stock.

Mike,
Here is the link to Cobra Company set: http://www.cobracompany.com/48024.htm

The Revell CH-53 kit has been around since the '70s. It is pretty good adn has some interior detailing. The cockpit ius pretty nice. I recommend it.

I belive the CC conversion has the probe tip and base. You have to make the probe itself from a piece of tubing.

Good luck.

I've got the Revell kit with Cobra Company's conversion and the Cutting Edge Modelworks' cockpit and weapons sets. The latter are required since Cobra Company only provides the exterior parts. However, the cockpit is not highly visible and the weapons are not always carried. Furthermore, the Revell SG/G is a reissue with a new sprue to update the helicopter to modern standards. These include the composite rotor blades that are used by the Pave Lows, so that's definitely the kit to buy. The refueling probe is NOT included in Cobra Company's conversion but it is included in Revell's kit. The probe is pretty basic and I had to scratchbuild some detail onto mine to get it to look right. I think that's about all. If you need anything else, contact me via email: adrake2@bigred.unl.edu
I've got some emails about the Pave Low from some of it's crew chiefs that are very informative. Just send me an email and I'll pass them on. Best wishes with your project.
