New 1/35 modern USN/USMC helicopter crew figures under consideration
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, September 17, 2005 2:38 PM
I was chatting with Bill Chilstrom, a talented and well respected figure sculptor. He has recently been doing a series of modern OIF USMC figures for the VLS/Warriors line. They are very nice indeed. I asked him about doing 1/35 USN/USMC helicopter aircrew figures. He said that is a project that's being considered. He has already started gathering reference material and photos. He states his only reluctance is that the helicopter figure market is so small, it may not be a good business venture to do such a project. It sounds like it would be something he would like to do if he realized the support was out here to bring these figures to the market. Business is business as we all understand. If any of you folks are interested in having these type high quality figures available, let's get rollin' and let Bill know we'll support the project! His e-mail is: dharper@centurytel.net. Thanks, Pete Brown

Hey you guys, send Bill Chilstrom some e-mails. Cheif Snake of Cobra Company has expressed some interest in this prospective project. Pete Brown

Already sent an email. Hope it comes to fruition. CC selling them would be great too. How about just some new helmeted heads as well to upgrade older pilot figures with current helmets.

Sweet!!! I'm currently at a standstill on my AH-60 until i find some kind of crew to go in it.

I'm looking for the DML one, but can't locate it ANYWHERE. I'll be sure to drop him an email about itBig Smile [:D]

PS... Arty... I ordered the ammo feed chutes from CC, Any idea how long it usually takes them to ship?

Just a note, the actual designation is MH-60L DAP. US Army doesn't, nor any other branch for that matter, use the AH-60 designation, just incorrectly used by Academy.

Take a look at the Helo Pilot sticky post in the figures forum for more options. The DML ones don't really represent modern pilots well.

I usually get stuff from CC within a week, usually less. And I am all the way across the country in CA.

Email sent.
It would be very cool to get some figures to add to my AH-1W and UH-1N kits.

I've been in e-mail contact with two other figure sculptors, Jeff Meckley at Think One Eighty Studios (www.think-one-eighty.com) and Taesung Harms of Alpine Miniatures (www.alpineminiatures.com). Jeff says, "Good suggestion, I will have to explore this option." Taesung says, "Yes, it is an unfamiliar area for me (helicopter figures). I will look into it soon." I think I'm on a crusade to get us some crews for our choppers. Check out these guys sites, they've got some great modern OIF soldier figures. Pete Brown
