My AttackHelo GB entry!
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 7:04 PM
Here it is: finally!! I've also posted in the AttackHelo GB thread, but thought I'd also share it here:

So the whole idea here is that I wanted to put it in some kind of setting. There's no significant 'story' to the surroundings; they just add some realism and shows the scale/size of the aircraft.

The painting was completely done by brush, in MM Acryl Aircraft Interior Black. I painted the engine cover with Tamiya's flat black, just to provide some variation. After painting I took a cloth and buffed out random areas, to make them slightly glossy, since the real Little Birds' paint jobs are rarely 100% flat.

Additional weathering was done with pastel chalk powder -- I applied it liberally and wiped it away, to really show service in the desert.

SOOO... here we go: photos of my Little Bird diorama/vignette/whatever-you-decide-to-call-it: Evil [}:)]

Looks great. Good job. Base, accessories, and figures really add to it.

I like the dog tags for the name plate as well, nice touch.

That build is lookin' Sierra Hotel!
That base display really gives it a polished look. And I agree with your idea on adding some figures and accessories for reference -- so people can see how 'little' the Little Bird really is. Probably will do something similar with mine.
My only suggestion is that your standing soldier may need some flat coat -- some of his web gear looks glossy in a couple photos. But very nice job overall. Thumbs Up [tup]

I like the weathering!!! Its just perfect! Not too much but enough to show that its a dusty, deserty and very dry and hot end of the world! What color of pastel did you use?

The pilot looks a little wierd cuz his hands are both in the air not touching sticks but his fists are in "holding" position.... Of course it doesnt really matter - it just kinda poped up right away when I looked through pics.
Beside this - GREAT JOB!

hey thanks for the kind comments!

thanks intruder_bass for noting the pilot hand problem. maybe i'll just take him out! and For the pastel, i mixed earth brown and yellow to get the sandy colour. it doesn't have to be exact. a little experimenting will get it right.

and i will take care of the flat coat problem. thanks AH1Wsnake for pointing that out.
is it better to airbrush a flat coat or brush it on? i got the gunze flat coat

Thanks!
